My MR2 had the standard 4A-GE. Very cool motor! 16V, DOHC, and had (T-VIS) a set of secondary intake plenums on 1 port to each cylinder. They would open at higher RPM's, like a 4 barrel carburetor, or primitive V-Tec!

You can see the only 2 "convertibles" in "James Bond: You Only Live Twice". Sean Connery was too tall, so the cut the roof off!

I was lucky back in '68. Our local car importer (Mercedes, British Leyland and a few others and now the largest Toyota/Mercedes dealer in the area) had one of these in their showroom for a week or two. A friend of mine and myself got to sit in it (I know big deal) but it was very cool and James Bond drove one and I was 19 I think. I might mention it is a VERY small car and I am 6'3" so it was tight.

I would LOVE to sit in one!

Well, Sean Connery is 6', 2" , and they had to cut the roof off for him, LOL!

DDB6A3C9-79EE-4297-B611-C8F6800EE004.jpg So I worked (splicing/testing) fiber optics in Detroit for three months. Only made about 4K (cheap bastards). I drove by a house with this out front. I gathered my thoughts, and offered cash!
    Dude says “$6500”
I says “big bore bikes are known to loose second gear”
He says “ I have the title no liens”
    I says “$4,000 cash”
    SOLD!!!
This bike was awesome to commute to work on. Power all threw the rpm range.
Then it started missing once the bike started moving past forty mph?
I talked to a racer/mechanic in Chantilly. Told him how it was acting. He knew right away it was the emulsion tubes. Which I had noticed one was a little disconnected. These emulsion tubes force air into the carbs once you hit 30 mph+ to help feed fuel to the carbs.
What a great machine!! I believe this was a California bike, the cooling fan stayed on after you turned the engine off for a minute to complete cooling.

    not a vehicle but?

Come to Detroit the 3rd Saturday in August (or better yet the week before) for the Woodward Dream Cruise. There is nothing like the largest moving car cruise. Lots of classic American muscle, burnouts, girls, and drinks. Its nice to experience some American history up close and personal. I live here and it never gets old, too bad we do not have market like this anymore. The quality may not have been there back in the day but they looked sweet and had character

I had two of those same cars in high school... '69 Chevelle was a monster.... I had a 427 2X4 tunnel ram, with 4:88 rear end and a Muncie 4 speed.

After I totaled that one, I ended up building a '64 Impala SS with an LT1 350 and a Muncie 4-Speed. Not as fast as the Chevelle, but very cool!

1996 Jag XJS. Last year of manufacture. 54,000 two-owner miles. Have owned this car for over 21 years. Not a screamer, but not a slouch either. Great on the highway in dry weather. All original. Need to get her out and let her stretch her legs.

    The 2021 T4R/TRD/ORP/MR is a definite keeper. Perfect and capable daily driver for me.001 (Medium).jpg 002 (Medium).jpg 003 (Medium).jpg

I would honk, but I'd be afraid of the consequences. That sign looks like a trap.

This one is a 502 built up then added nitrous and 355 gears in the back... Still wanted to drive and ran out of RPM too quickly with the higher rears so settled in on 355's.

    Lots of goodies
My first truck was a ‘57 Chevy I paid $1200 for in 1980. I wish I still had it. It was an original V8 truck with the rocket hood ornaments, 283/3 speed on the column. The 283 started to die not long after I got it and one of my dad’s friends gave me a rusted out ‘71 Delta 88 with a 455/TH400. It ran mid 12s on street tires. It was the original “Farm Truck” and it shocked a lot of guys that thought their Corvettes and Trans Ams were fast. Hehe

    Oh, wow!
    Talk about memories...
My father had a 57 Chevy truck, looked just like that one, only blue, not red. It had 4 on-the-floor, with the first gear being a granny low. It's what I learned to drive in, starting about 74. Went through 3 clutches :D It's what got me hooked on manual transmissions. All I'll drive.

    Thanks for some good memories!
