I used the @MeefZaf design for my installation. Plus added a connector to unplug it for future quick removal of the hatch trim panel.

That looks very clean and I thought about a connector as eell. 6 pin?

    Only 4pins needed.
    1. Rocker switch Up/Lock pin.
    2. Rocker switch Common pin plus one pin of the Hatch Pop pushbutton (these go to GND).
    3. Rocker switch Down/Unlock pin
    4. The other pin of the Hatch Pop pushbutton.

Thank you all for the help. And thanks Jesse for the kit and the super fast shipping.

Who is @MeefZaf and where is his designs? Google has no search results hit for this across the entire interwebs besides this page.

Ok so after researching this so more, I realized that I'm stuck with a 4runner that has the tailgate window control integrated with the keyless entry system, and that the window up/down controls will only work when 1) it does not detect a key inside the vehicle, and 2) it detects a key outside the vehicle. I don't have any interest storing a key outside the vehicle in a lock box or otherwise, nor with messing with a faraday bag to store a second key inside the vehicle, so this solution is a no-go for me.

Perhaps it would be possible to rig up something that works by bypassing the keyless entry system by applying power directly to the motor that drives the window up/down.

I did this mod and I did it the long hard way by placing the rocker switch on the trim panel just aft of the driver side passenger seat. I did place the lift-gate release button on the lift-gate trim panel as previously shown. For all practical purposes I would recommend placing the controls as previously shown - on the lift-gate trim panel (it's so much easier). However there is one added plus by doing it the way I did - something I had not planned on but just popped into my head after all was done. I'm honestly not trying to be coy but you'll have to PM me to for this added feature - you'll understand why..

What is the mfg of your rear window moly - looks interesting.

    Stock…for now…
Very cool! It is annoying how it comes from the factory. It took me a while to even figure out when it would let me roll down the window.

My 2000 SR5 4Runner had a hatch window down function on the key fob. 2016 Limited 4Runner, nope.

Beautifully done. I've been wanting to do this for years but lack the electrical knowledge.
