I prefer the non leather upholstery in the ORP as well. It’s superior in every way, IMHO, and I kind of like that I’m not sitting on a previously sentient being’s skin.

For that matter, I don't see any reason to spend what Toyota charges extra for the ORP vs. OR. Didn't want a sunroof or pleather seats.

Mine has the softex pleather. It’s not too bad and it’s easy to clean

I purchased my 2017 TRD Pro w/the one year color, for 41K before TTL. I do have one regret....I should have bought 2!!! We should have a "What did you sell your 4Runner for" thread.....that'd be interesting.

I'm a sucker for hot women and cars. Reason I chose the Pro is it's hot and more reliable than a woman

I almost agree but my definition of hot is different, as my old teacher always said: “just a glowing piece of steel is hot *break* and for sure female booty!”

I decided to buy new versus used. Could have save a lot more $$$ of course but didn't...Instead I choose a new 2019 4Runner Pro because that's what I wanted. I didn't want a SR5, Off Road, Limited, etc... I could have waited for the 2020 but decided to go with the 2019. The 2020 updates wasn't significant enough. Also, in 2019, the MSRP for a Pro was a lot closer to Off Road. The 2020 MSRP for the Pro went up 3K so that's why there is a 7K difference in MSRP. The Tacoma Pro MSRP also went up.

When I was shopping for my first RTT, I was surprised and didn't know they range from 1200-4500. Your RTT was 3700, so that's the Pro of RTTs? Hahaha!

I'm really tempted with the diesel gladiator (when it drops, especially if they do a manual diesel), but we'll see. I love my 4R but a diesel Jeep pickup is quite appealing for lots of things (I know, it's a Jeep, but also why I like it ).

Read the news. Brand New the frame welds are bad and rusting away. Then visit the forums to see how bad Fiat screwed them up. I used to love Jeep's till I lost my azz with 2 lemons in 2016

I never had oil pump issues, is that a thing now? Mine were transmissions and they had zero clue how to fix them in both a KL and a WK2

It's gonna be a good Jeep. The problem is the price. It will be $50-60K I'm guessing.

    I have to admit, I’ve been cheating a lil, been looking at a Ford Truck. I can get a loaded,4x4, 2019 v6 F-150 for 28k......Granted it’s a long bed with no storage.....But I already have a 86 XLT V8 loaded Lariat.....that runs great still.....

    Supporting math incoming:

I ordered a Pro, paying MSRP. Waited 3 months only to find out they added some gear I didn't want to it. Went to another dealer and bought an ORP.

In the end I was going to put on a Radflo suspension, my own wheels, and it wasn't wise to buy something I would just take off.

    But the price wasn't 3-4k, it was $50,737 MSRP for the Pro (of which I'd get for a meager $50,737). The ORP was $45720 and I got for $41625. I was negative $2200 on my F150, and I got $28,500 for it, reducing taxes on the 41625 to $13,125 @ 7.25% = $951.56 + $599 document fee + $150 registration = ~ $45,500.

Difference of $5237 (with the $2200 negative equity so really around $7437).

Also, financing 43k (i put $2500 down to make it $43 and essentially get rid of neg equity) @ 3.9% (horrible rate with a freaking 830 credit rating but it's crap right now) for 60 months saves me approx $1700 in interest over the life of the loan vs financing $48,500 ($50737 - $2200 neg equity), so a Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) if I don't pay it off early is about $9137 saved vs pro.

I still would have loved to do the Pro, but i'm able to finance only 5 years, break even faster, and I plan to pay off wife's 4Runner next year and velocity bank that note into this to pay off in 28 months instead, saving another $1000 in interest if I can.

Feel free to bash the deal, the interest rate, the methodology, but I feel it would be helpful for new owners or potential buyers to know what a real price to pay and real deal might look like.

Happy to upload an amortization schedule of interest payments if someone would find value in that. Nothing to hide here.

Personally, I was surprised to get that much off an ORP, I was expecting $1500 - $2000 max, but this was a large dealer with very competivite pricing. I really got maybe another $300 off what the "internet price" was and didn't bother to haggle for more as I was able to walk in, and buy the vehicle in 1 hour. I was through financing in another hour. I arrived @ 4:50 PM and left at 7:30 PM after BSing with the guys a bit.

Also for the Haters and the Lovers

Pro colors look amazing. Buddy has Army Green and it's sexy. Voodoo Blue sexy.
Shocks are REALLY nice, if you don't want a lift but want a really good set, Pro is a great choice.

If you plan to build it yourself, ORP.

Love the pro wheels, but so does everyone else. Kinda getting overcrowded.

Pro skidplate for looks only, but looks good.

Very mixed feelings about roof rack on Pro.

Did I mention those sexy colors?

Why no supercharger? I'd overpay for that!

This is just my opinion. But I prefer the Pro because I did a lot of mods on my 15 Tacoma when I had it and did not want to go thru that again. Also comparing numbers the value the Pro holds over the other 4runners. I got almost what I paid for on my 17 Pro trade in on my 2020 Pro. Doing Kellybluebook on line to see what the value would be and comparing everything my 17 Pro against another 4runner it crazy how much more the value holds. I’m about numbers. I owned my 17 Pro and If I did not get what I wanted for it to trade in I would have kept it. But whatever works best for some. The Pro is not the way to go if you plan on modding which is common sense.

5 months after I bought my ORP I was rear ended by an uninsured motorist. Caused $11k in damage and since I had uninsured motorist coverage I at the $500 deductible to get it repaired. Since the other asshat wasn’t insured I couldn’t seek diminished value so my 5 month old 4R’s value was tanked.

I’m batting .1000 with uninsured motorists as both accidents I’ve ever been in were with those fuckwits.

I also mod the shit out of the vehicles I buy so the Pro wasn’t really much of an option cause of that.

After the accident and I got it back I figured I’m keeping it a while so fuck it. Cracks knuckles and gets to work.

if I had a Pro and was wanting to maintain the resale value I’d be significantly more pissed in this situation and it would drive me nuts trying to keep from modding

Agreed - really that's the biggest downfall of the thing, but it would be a beast off-road with all the torque. My bad on getting things a bit off topic!

Meh, to each their own, it seems like you have a solid gameplan figured out for this, good job and getting rid of the underwater vehicle - the 4R should hopefully hold it's value a bit better and stay net positive. I've gone both ways on vehicles, ran high mileage / owned outright and my last two have been new off the lot.

If you play it right, you can get a deal on the vehicle, have no maintenance costs, and your overall cost to run per month will likely be lower (at least for me it's worked out that way).

    Example
I had a 2009 Silverado, 155K. owned outright, not much for mods done. It was starting to wear out, had to do brakes and a few other things at 150K. Had a ton of warranty work done at 98K (rear end), whole front end at 115K. Repairs, when spread out over a monthly "cost" were running close to $450. Sold for $14.5K

Bought a 2016 GMC Sierra All Terrain (loaded) for $38K, financed the entire truck @ 2.4%, as I needed cash for house projects (was doing a whole house reno). Ran this for 2 years and put 55K on it. Needed to renew tabs, needed tires, warranty almost up. Sold for $34.5K. Also banked about $5K putting some miles on for work. Monthly cost ended up being about $650 (ttl/insurance incld.) before factoring in the mileage checks from work - great truck, just wasn't a good fit with a move to a city (too big).

Bought my current 19 TRD ORP for $38.5K (KDSS, sunroof, etc.). Financed @ 3.15% (810 credit score - tried to get lower but couldn't find much - one at 2.99 but was a pain to deal with). I'm sure this one won't be as cost beneficial but I love the thing and will easily get 150K out of it before I move it on - unless I get suckered into a diesel gladiator lol

Yes, purchased it new in 2017. Placed the order in January and it was delivered end of March. When I placed the order, I was able to get a little more than 1k off MSRP.

    Vehicle:
    2020 ORP
    Custom scratches
After 3 years the original value of the vehicle is now at:
    Ford @ 3 years - 49% original value
    4Runner @ 3 years - 73% original value
    4Runner Pro @ 3 years - 78% original value
    Subaru @ 3 years - 74% for most models

These are averages, but good ideas. My F150 was on par with this valuation.

The Pro does indeed hold value longer, but the higher price of admission might negate the additional percentage because you'll owe more or have paid more. However, each deal is unique so that's not always true.

My Point: Don't buy a vehicle for the resale. But if you do, don't buy a Ford. I paid for that mistake....
