Another perk for my 2015 Pro - it came with a normal roof rack

I added 2 Thule bars because the factory bars are so close to the rooftop that anything installed up there will rub! I actually got this cargo box on a discount. I bought the smaller Thule cargo box & it was in stock. After paying, they realized they were out of stock. I got upgraded for free to the next size up. Shout Out to Jackson @ Rack Attack off Evans in Denver!

I highly recommend you buy a used Pro. That's exactly what I did & you'll get a better deal. Any 4runner with low miles is just as good as brand new

Can the Fox shocks from the Pro go on an ORP that has KDSS?

Kind of yes. They have unequal spring preload to counter driverside lean in a non-kdss runner. Meaning if you use the Fox pro suspension you’ll get a pronounced passenger side lean. You can use two same-side shocks if you can find them, to even it up. This was enough to push me away from Fox pro and into Bilstein 6112.

Or you can use a spacer for the lean on one side..

Yeah you could. I didn’t want to have to mess with spacers to compensate for incorrect pre-load.

I think you made the right choice, the 6112's on our Tacoma are awesome and I would worry about replacing the Factory Fox shocks after warranty.

Yeah I agree. I’ve been very pleased. They punch way above their cost bracket. I got 6112/5100 for less than $900!

This is the thing that I like about the Pro, it's ready to go off the lot. For me anyway. I do as much of my own work as I can, but finding a good shop/mechanic is just about impossible anymore.

Good video, thank you for sharing.

And I agree, it’s really hard to find good service anymore. I get annoyed when people say find a good local shop, in reality, this is like trying to find a unicorn.

Absolutely not! Unless you are talking about a 4 to 5+ year old PRO. Before buying my 2024 PRO, I looked at several 2021 and newer PROs. The absurd prices these dealers want, completely negate the advantage of buying a used PRO that is supposedly depreciated some. Depending on milage, some 2021 PROs prices were on the $52k to $54k, which is ridiculous if you think a brand new one should go for about $57k to $59k after all those "mandatory" port add ons. My life was much easier when I saw these prices and it was an easy decision to buy new. My only hold back was because I really liked the Lunar Rock color. Solar was just too much and Terra (to me) in the shade looks like poop. Then I saw Underground...wrote the check immediately.

I agree at that point you can only buy new. I bought a 2015 Pro for the no sunroof, inferno color, no tss, no pro exhaust, no pro roof rack etc. So my purchase was a very specific used pro

After Cement, Inferno is my absolute favorite color on PROs. When I bought my cement 2017 (which I regret selling to this day), I almost bought an Inferno but the deal feel through. This time I considered going for a 2015-2017 one, but the lack of (little bit) tech added in 2020 bothered me. Your Inferno looks awesome. It is getting harder and harder to find old PROs without being butchered with mods. I am one of those suckers for OEM stuff - my eyes almost melted when I saw that SR5 a couple posts above. Also the reason why I went with the PRO, as opposed to an ORD - to the OPs point.

So what's special about it vs. a 2015 OR, clapped out 9 year-old Fox shocks vs. 9 year-old Bilsteins?

Here in Canada land the Pro is $11,000CDN more then the Off Road. You could buy the Pro wheels, better suspension, better tires, a functional roof rack and a real skid plate and still have a lot of change left over for that price difference. I couldn't justify the price when I bought my new '21 ORP even though they had a new lunar rock Pro sitting on the lot.

I do feel you will have less remorse replacing suspension on a pro or trail/OF that’s this old. So far the stock pro suspension on mine is in great shape. But yes the Inferno is nice here in Broncos country/Denver. Some ppl say resale value comes into play but I plan to keep mine forever so that doesn’t count typically.

I don’t know man lunar rock pro is in everyone’s top 3 colors. That’s hard to pass lunar rock but I would have bought an ORP too. I love the inferno here in the mountains & I had too. It’s the OG color!

Thank you! It’s a great truck & im taking it back to the Tetons this summer!

Only 3 infernos & 1 cement for sale when I was buying used 2/3 years ago. That was nation wide & car buying was complete chaos. Lower interest rates though. I got this inferno in Virginia. My buddy had this inferno & a cement pro for sale. My neighbor has the cavalry blue. So couldn’t get that one. The inferno fits pretty good here in Denver. Sadly my wife drives the inferno all the time. She loves it & I get stuck driving the taco :help:

Inferno, lunar rock, and maybe army green are my top 3 special colors.
But honestly there's not point of getting the Pro for the special color now. Since the army green in 2020, Toyota has been releasing the special color on other trims the following year.
I think the only unique colors to the $R TRD pro are inferno, quicksand, cement, cavalry blue, and voodoo blue.

If you can afford it, get the Pro. No need to pretend that you do NOT want it and get the ORP instead. When you get the ORP, you will want to be a TRD Pro wannabe? Getting all those parts to make it look like TRD PRO? Seriously, I had to interject because this debate goes on forever. It all depends what you want to do with it. I got trd pro because I am not planning on a lift anytime soon and will not do anything crazy, some overlanding and light off-roading. I work a lot and have little time to spare, so I do what I can. If you love trd pro, get it. I have loved it. Nothing looks better than original TOYOTA TRD PRO!! I got it because I could. Dont look back. Life is short. I LOVE MINE. Im gonna marry her.....

LOL. You seem...stressed from your work.

I can afford a Pro easily, I drive a lot of fast twisty mountain roads between my house and my folks' property, the KDSS is a god send.

Yes, kdss for a daily driver is a better option than trd pro, and that was my point. I dont think trd pro is superior to orp and vice versa. My 4runner is for occasional use, camping, offroading and such. Nothing great. I have 2017 sienna as a daily driver and to pull my trailer I have got sequoia 2021, trd pro. I love them all.

I am not married LOL. I am happy.

That's funny, wife and I have a 4runner, Sienna, and a Tundra. I really want one of those new Sequoia... but at these prices... I ca t afford one. There was a cement one on the dealer lot when I went to buy the 4runner... just about 100k. No thanks for now. Ended up with a white ORP with KDSS for my daily driver. But now kinda wish I went with the all wheel drive Limited instead.
