TRD oil filter officially discontinued by Toyota?

    If there were issues with the Toyota filter and/or housing the 1GR-FE would not have the worldwide reputation for reliability. There are literally hundreds of thousands of 4Runners out there using the normal Toyota filter in the "dreaded" plastic housing that run for 100K, 200K, even 300K without a blip. What's more important is that you change your oil and filter on a regular basis.

    True that.
    I just have mixed feelings about the canister style. In general I like it. Then occasionally I'll have a clumsy oil change and wish that I had a spin on. Not that the filter was the clumsy thing in the equation.
    Also I have a case of filters that fit my 3rd gen and wife's RX. Now it's just RX and at her typical usage I may be 3 years getting through them. (I guess that's not so bad) Sometimes I have to change hers based on time instead of mileage.

    I have been using these with no problem , since the TRD Filters have not been available..... I hope this helps ! ( You can get them on Amazon )
