Finally got around to cleaning the 4Runner so that I could take the pictures this deserves. This is one of my favorite comfort modifications. You almost forget how nice it is once you’ve been without the glare long enough.

Wouldn’t hesitate to do further future business with OP. Great service and product!

Thanks for the endorsement!!! I am glad you are happy with it! That glare can be a bear so may as well customize while also fixing the problem. Have fun out there!

What color would you recommend for a silver 4runner. Prefer something that is more subtle and blends in but want to block the annoying sun glare.

I have a mat black with silver topo design on a silver 4R.
If you’d like I can take pictures of my dirty 4R, so you have a better example.

Thanks Ray. Another picture would be great. Was wondering how black vs grey would compare. Not sure exactly what options are available.

Light Grey for sure... The topo lines match the cilver pretty closely. I will be home tomorrow evening and I will verify stock etc. I am in the middle of a switch between vinyl suppliers.
I will look at what I have left... I am still trying to transition to a new vinyl supplier. I am out of town but will be back this evening.
    Thanks

So what I mean is, there's straight flat black right, I like that but does straight flat white work for glare or does it have to be black. Is flat white an available color anywhere

The issue with the glare is primarily the reflection on the clear coat on the hood scoop. A matte finish on the vinyl would help but with white, you will still have a lot of light. Think about white walls vs color walls with a light bulb. I am willing to order a single sheet and cut one if you want to try it. (I've only had this request once before but they changed their mind). PM me if you want to move forward.
    Thanks !

I may be about to remove this from my 4R, sorry to say. While it does exactly what is advertised - cut glare from the sun at certain times during the day - this thing is a dirt magnet. If my vehicle is not freshly washed, the vinyl hood scoop cover looks like a dirty rug sitting in the middle of my hood. I don't have the luxury of a garage to park my rig in, just a carport. So every time the wind blows any dust around, it all seems to land directly on this hood scoop decal. The rest of the hood might look dirty, but the cover is 3x as dirty looking.

I gave it a good shot. I just don't think the amount of times I got the advantage of the glare protection is worth the look when dirty. I don't want to discourage anyone from getting one of these; it may just be the black color on an MGM vehicle that looks this way. @MyWyfsRnnr is a stand-up guy with a great product, it's just not working for me after all.

I was just about to ready to purchase this within first week of owning ORP. However, after I got the ppf installed its a non-issue for me. It looks cool however! Especially the lettering makes it quite unique.

No question - it's a quality product, and the ones with lettering look great; plus, the installation is a breeze, if you follow the directions. The only way it wouldn't show more dirt is if it was the same finish as the rest of the hood, which would totally negate the reason it exists and the reason for getting it in the first place.

Bummer! Ours is MGM also and I can see what you mean. Right now the pollen is going nuts in our area and the matte uniform shows it pretty well.

When you remove it, be sure to use a good amount of heat and go slowly, I suggest going from one front corner and heating it up to soften the adhesive. Then pull it backwards onto itself so the decal pulls backwards from the paint, not up. Work it an inch or so at a time with heating and pulling to get it off and not leave any adhesive. If any adhesive stays, a little bit of Bug and Tar remover will take it right off then give the area a wash and wax.

Finally got around to getting the vinyl put on. Perfect fit and can definitely say it cuts glare a lot. Not sure how I feel about the letters but they should be easily removed.

Just installed the vinyl. Really like the look, and after parking in the sun for a few min, did notice one tiny bubble that I missed while in the garage. Will have to see whether a pinprick will help. Otherwise, went on pretty easy. And definitely cuts the glare!

Personally, I would wait a few days before trying to fix it with a pin or anything. I had a small imperfection in mine as well, but before I had a chance to fix it, the Texas sun had done the job for me. I imagine that like with tint, given enough time and heat, any trapped moisture will evaporate and the vinyl will settle itself into place. At least it did for me. Good luck!

A little heat will get them easily detached. I just put those letters in there to give something extra in an area that would otherwise be waste. Looks good!

@OverRunner is correct. This vinyl breaths so give it a couple days in the sun etc and it will probably lay flat on its own. This stuff is pretty forgiving. Looks good on there!

Thanks Overrunner & MyWyfsRnnr, I checked on it today and the tiny bubble is gone. I did let it sit in the sun for a while on day of install and has since been in the garage.
Really happy with the end result!
    Tks!

    Hey all!
Cleaning up my office today and found enough of the flat black with dark grey contours for 3 hood scoop decals. I know a lot of people were interested in them last time I ran out. I'm offering them here first before I put them in my store on Friday. PM me if you are interested.
    Thanks
    Chris

Have you tried making any pillar mountain designs but for the lower part of the back hatch? Mine is scratched up from low garage door. Would like something to hide the scratches. Only have seen 2 on Etsy/Ebay and didn't like either of them.
