I have had a Tacoma. I love them, but with a growing family, not real practical.

I got rid of my 2015 Silverado CrewCab 4x4 to get back in a 4runner and have zero regrets. With 50k miles on the Chevy, I was already starting to have problems.

Have a solution for carrying larger items on the roof of the 4Runner and a couple decent sized coolers will fit in the back. Had no issues getting 3 80-100lb Yellowfin Tuna home a few weeks ago. If you're field dressing game, this might work for you.

A trailer is not a bad idea as long as you have somewhere to store it. I thought about buying a folding trailer but decided I would just rent one when I need one.

Boys in back of 4runner.jpgI don't use all the other gear, but I set up the back of my 4Runner with the Variogate and a K9ballistics dog bed that is bombproof. I also got a custom cargo liner (and recently got a custom back seat cover) from Canvasback.com. They do GREAT work and it keeps my vehicle as fur-free as it can be.

I've been thinking about going the opposite way and ditching the 4runner for the zr2. The offroad capability is impressive but the overall performance is poor and the reliability of my 2020 hasn't been great.
