2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
A year ago, I contacted Jerry about my TCUV. He explained that certified used vehicles need to have the VSA bought at the time that the car is purchased. It is more of a crap shoot then and there's a chance that there might not be any problems.

An educated guess, using deductive reasoning, is that Toyota is on the hook if somebody did a bad inspection. Case in point was my 2020 Off-Road that the dealership ended up refunding me after a year and a litany of problems documented in photos and video. If I was able to retroactively buy that agreement, there is also a chance that I could have bought a poor quality vehicle to start with and use the insurance to buy me all new parts.

Now, things may have changed but that was the case back in July of 2022.

I've read through the thread, and saw on the Toyota VSA site that "Used vehicle plans must be purchased at the time of the used vehicle sale only". I recently bought a mint '23 4Runner POR with less than 1k miles on it, however I got it from a local auto shop/broker. Definitely not from a Toyota dealer, and I'd not heard of this Toyota warranty until today.

I both emailed and spoke on the phone with Jerry and asked him about this. He said as long as the used car is under 3 years/36k, he can provide the Platinum warranty for me, and that the website is wrong.

I may have missed it in the thread, but has anyone else bought the warranty well after they bought their 4Runner, and not from a Toyota dealer?

Jerry would know and it makes more sense that it would be 3/36 as the limiting factor. You are correct in how it’s worded but now that I have the warranty, I could private party sell my 4Runner to someone and transfer the warranty to them as long as I don’t cash out and take the prorated. Jerry works at MidWest Superstore - they sell Toyota, Lexus, Ford, Scion, etc… and he sells VSAs for all of them. I researched Mid Kansas Investments (seller of the VSA) before pulling the trigger. His dealership has been in business since the 1950’s.

When I picked up my '23 ORP, I had to chuckle when they tried to sell me an extended warranty. When I told them about Jerry's deals, including no sales tax, they said they didn't know how he could sell the warranty "below cost." I showed them the certificate of insurance from Toyota that I got from Jerry on my '21 Venture, and they said it's legit.

Jerry got my previous policy canceled with a refund nearly what I paid for it minus $50 admin fee.

MooreKen have you received anything yet in the mail or does it really take 3 to 4 weeks before you get anything for the VSA.

I would be cautious in bringing other dealers in on Jerry's deals. They could easily go back to Toyota and complain. Even if they can't do anything legally, negative attention is never good for a salesperson.

Having worked at a manufacturer who had numerous resellers across the world, I regularly fielded complaints from a German dealer about prices in the United States. While fully justified, it was a pain in the ass and a lot of money was lost over it, including having all the dealers block German IP addresses.

Not sure if Jerry is concerned about this since his name is all over the web about Jerry providing these extended warranty's. He also told me to please tell people about my experience with dealing with him as well. I am also sure many dealers read this forum.

I got Jerry’s email confirmation. I expect the actual package VSA Agreement from Toyota will be here in a couple weeks. My dealership pulled up all my warranty info the other day and just for the heck of it, I’ll swing by after I receive the VSA to make sure it shows up in the system as 10 year/ 100K. If I remember correctly, Jerry said he would send a f/u once I’m in the system.

I was a little hesitant to put what he charged but it was exactly what I was expecting from what I had already read in previous posts. I was actually expecting a little more because mine is a TRD Pro, all the other posts were ORPs.

Jerry has a good niche. I am willing to bet most of his sales are from folks that would never buy the warranty at the dealership. I would have never bought it had I not joined this forum. I’m actually considering getting one for my Lexus as well. I got it March of 2022 and it has 7000 miles on it. I bought both vehicles for their reliability and this is a sale Toyota would never have gotten if it wasn’t for Jerry.

    Same for me.

I also understand that rubbing crap in people's face doesn't always get the result desired.

Another thing I never do is tell one dealership the price another dealership is offering me a car at. Having been a commissioned salesperson for many years, I just tell people give me your best price out the door, put your best foot forward and we'll go from there.

I will never compromise somebody giving me a great deal, and that weeds out those who are not giving me a good deal...

If this is really bumper-to-bumper, that's a pretty fair price, I think. At least here in upstate New York. Toyota's Platinum ExtraCare warranties are actually pretty great. You can use them at ANY Toyota dealership. They are generally pretty good about covering incidentals. The deductibles are reasonable or none at all. AND you can sell the balance of it back if you trade in the truck, or roll into a warranty for your next one.

    Its Legit...

I had bought online factory warranties for Ford/Mercury and Honda in the past.

I showed the Online VSA quote to my Toyota Finance Manager. He was ready to match it if I had bought the other useless in-house add-on like paint protection etc.
Told him no deal. His loss.

Also note that the VSA prices are not fixed. You can negotiate with the finance Manager before signing any paperwork.

Extended Warranty - Suspension. I want to change the direction of the thread for a second to see if anyone has clear guidance on this. As a TRD Pro owner the suspension is a big ticket item. My understanding of the warranty is that it doesn’t cover normal wear and tear items such as struts. Which means the struts are on me unless I can prove they are defective. The Springs are covered - which is good because before the redesign they were cracking and breaking at the base. There are quite a few other components that are covered. I just don’t want to have to deal with Fox if anything goes wrong because their warranty process blows. (Mail the part to them, then they analyze it and get back with you at their own pace). So in a nutshell: Does anyone have any experience with dealing with Toyota on Suspension Warranty claims? Especially if they had a Fox suspension?

Purchased 8/14 and contract is arriving in today’s mail. 8/30 (2 weeks) And verified at the local dealership just now that I have 10 year / 100K mile Platinum. It didn’t show up in my local dealer’s system because it was not sold by a Gulf State Dealership but one quick call to an automated system and he verified I was covered. So if anyone has any doubt you can put it to rest.

I received both paperwork from Jerry and Toyota Financial Services in the mail together yesterday. I think from time of purchased and till I received the actual contact was less than 10 days. I just don't know how I could go wrong with this price / deal. Will make me sleep well for the next 10 years and or 100k.

That's great news. I am still waiting on the contract from Toyota Financial. I received the paperwork from Jerry already so hopefully I will get the contract soon. Anyone else who has bought their extension recently got their contract as well?

It takes 30-40 days for the computer system to be updated. Even the standard new car warranty takes 30+ days before trying to use ToyotaCare.

My salesman told me after I mentioned doing a break-in oil change at 500-1000 miles.

I contacted Jerry about the ESC as discussed on this forum. He’s a very personable guy. We talked for about a half hour wherein he outlined the terms. Got the Platinum 10 years/100,000 miles, no deductible for my 2020 Limited. B to B ends in October. Received receipt and copy of application to Toyota today. He said to expect the contract booklet in about 4 weeks. Paid with debit card and avoided cc surcharge. Very pleased with the results.
There are still dealer representatives who are up front and provide a superior product for a reasonable price without any BS. I highly recommend anyone looking for information and pricing for a TOYOTA ESC. Not posting the price paid for obvious reasons.

The price I see quoted throughout this post is $1360 My understanding is that your mileage is take into account which may cause this to vary. As far as not putting the price out there, well there was concern that if other dealerships saw the price Jerry was charging it could ruffle some feathers. I spoke to my buddy at my local dealership and he could care less. He said Ford would mail out low ball offers like this for the folks that hadn’t purchased extended warranties at the time of sale but were still under 3 year/36K miles. Either way…. $1360 is the amount quoted numerous times throughout the post for 10year 100K.

I believe I read on either this forum or another Toyota enthusiast forum that a few dealers complained to Toyota and the person at that time had to either stop selling out of state warranties or be more discrete(hence pricing not being shared as openly but can still be found), I don't remember which.
