    Lift installed and here’s where we are. Have driven about 200 miles on the tires, so far so good. Highway manners are excellent and that’s about all I can comment on thus far. I can tell it’s a heavier tire but to be expected, no surprises there. Alignment still needs some work but that’s another story. Don’t hate on the running boards, sliders are ordered. Cheers!

    I was down to either these or the Cooper Evolution MTs. The Coopers were a P285/70R17 and weighed 46 lbs with only 14.6mm of tread depth. Price was $179 each. The Cooper were the LT285/70R17, weighed 57 lbs each, had 19mm of tread depth, and were $161 each. Generally, I wanted a lower weight tire, but only 46 lbs in a 285 tire was a bit concerning, as was the really shallow tread. So I ordered the Coopers.

    Loved the looks of the Toyos and think they'd be a great tire in the snow, but wanted something a bit beefier.

    Hey all! New to the forum and 4runner ownership! Looking to ditch the stock tires for the AT3s and was looking for opinions on the p-metrics vs LTs with regard to crappy roads (pot holes, etc) and if one would be better then the other?

    "C" "E" or LT would be better on anything except your comfort. Look at it this way. I'm guessing every car has P rated. If your roads destroy car tires it would destroy a "P" rated AT3

    Kings Shocks, SPC UCA’s, Method MR702 rims, Toyo AT III’s in 285/70/17, Gobi Roof Rack, various Baja Designs lights.

Great ride, super quiet on the road (900 miles to home), low road noise, and a 65,000 tire, can’t beat it. I liked AT II’s but these are far superior. I have not had them off road yet... looking forward to it though.

    As far as these specific tires in 265/70 or 285/70 (I’m looking at getting 265’s) they come in either load range E or SL for LT and p-metric respectively. They do jump up to load range F at 305/65 18 which according the bottom of the spec sheet is still an LT, so it seems so.

    Yea I did see that, so being on the LT tires, did the ride quality change much from before? I’m assuming that was stock?

    I wouldn’t mind 285’s but suspension is a long ways off and I don’t want to hack/chop things up quite yet lol

    When I went to a 10-ply LT E-rated tire in the stock size, I noticed a huge difference in ride quality and gas mileage. I'm used to it now, so not a big deal. Got a set of 285s sitting in the garage ready to go on probably next month that are also LT 10-ply tires, but at 56 lbs each, are probably the same or less weight than my Goodyears. The extra rubber should soften the ride a bit.

    I drove 750 miles 2 weeks ago on a trip to Mount St. Helens, on the way home I cruised at 80 m.p.h. + for an hour or so, got the AT3's in July and no vibrations at all, at any speed. 2018 SR5 premium, 265/70

    Just FYI for those five people who care :D, the AT3 is one of the few ATs that seem to come in the stock 20" size for the Limited. Only 37 pounds too (though of course the wheels are heavier...) compared with 34 pounds for a good highway oriented tire like the Michelin Defender.

    Wanted to follow up with this thread.

    Ive had these tires on a few weeks now and so far they’ve been great. No major wheeling or anything but they seem to grip nice on the dirt as well as the rain. Also of note, it got rid of all of my steering wheel shake. I had the typical 56-61mph shake that’s completely gone now.

    Question for those running these, what have you aired down to? I went with the p-series so everyday driving I’m at the recommended 32psi. I’d like to try getting down to 18-22psi for trails and even so low as 15 for when the snow gets here. Anyone have any issues? FWIW I’m also on the stock TRD ORP wheels, so I’m not sure how strong that bead holds.

    Thanks very much for updating us. Follow up question: have you noticed any change in how well the truck tracks on the highway? My biggest beef with my Limited (aside from the poor headlights) may be the amount of steering correction it needs at highway speeds. I get that it's a truck with a high center of gravity, lots of wind resistance and softish suspension. So It's gonna move around more than what I used to drive. But I've been wondering if different tires might help a bit. I'm still on the craptastic stock Duelers.

    I can’t speak on much authority to the tires prior as I bought the truck and updated tires within 2 weeks and have now driven more on the Toyos than stock. However, it does seem to track better from what I remember. That may have been because of the steering shake at normal highway speeds caused extra corrections, or maybe it truly is just better at tracking down the road. Either way I’ve only seen improvements in the truck since installing.

    I have 285's in load range C. I usually run trails at 25, but have gone as low as 15 in sand. I did read where a member had one come off the bead at 15 in rocks.

    I think 20-25 is pretty good for these, in most situations. You can air down lower if you get stuck.

    No problem! I couldn't say what wheels he had. Rocks can be brutal on wheels and tires, though.

    I went with stock sizes since I don’t have plans for a lift any time soon, and I didn’t want to roll the dice on 285s rubbing or not. I kinda like the off road wheels so I’ll probably use them until I need a new set haha
