So update, they fixed this and gave it back. Took 2.5 months. When the dealer found out that I wasn’t getting a check, they said forget it we don’t want the truck. “‘ we might be able to get you 15k for it” so, here I am with a 4Runner no one wants. I always wanted a project truck, guess this will be it. Time to go get some bumpers and get the suspension a little higher.

 

Does insurance let you buy it back out there?

 

I’m not sure, but they fixed it and then gave it back so I guess that covers it….

Those Fr’s didn’t fix the truck…a piece of the frame is still bent. I’m changing my oil for the first time since the accident and find this and missing clips on the inside of the wheel well

 

Let your insurance know. THEY should call the repair shop that fixed it and get everything sorted out.

Just take it to carmax or another dealer if you want to sell it

 

Take it back to the repair shop and show them. They should call the insurance company and let them know what was missed and it should be fixed.

 

ouch....been there myself....my '97 got clobbered...i posted pics...final cost to repair was over 9k...I ended up going to court, suing the other drivers insurance companies....and WON. the eventual pay out to me, was far more than if they just would have written me a quick check. they didn't ..and it back fired on 'em.......you can either take a check for having it totaled. or take a check, and then purchase your vehicle back..and then spend to have it repaired. good luck with your choice....

 

It turns out my ex who I’m still friends with worked for the other guys Ins company. She said I should put through a DOI complaint to have the truck totaled as it should have been from them get go. More drama, with this shit…lol unreal.

Really sorry to read this. I had something similar happen last year where my ORP got totaled with 600 miles on it. As mine flipped when the person in the other car blasted through a red light, there was no question of that.

 

You can get diminished value in CT.

I had a similar situation as you a couple years ago and was able to get something. It was a PITA and in the end not necessarily worth it, but better than nothing.

 

Get a good lawyer if you deal with insurance alone you will get screwed plus doesn’t your neck hurt? Get a lawyer insurance is not your friend. Go get checked out at the hospital.

 

I filed a DOI complaint against farmers for sending me home with a bent frame. It isn’t gonna do anything but F them. I suffered a concussion in the collision and do have a lawyer handling that aspect of it. But as soon as I’m done with this I’m dumping farmers and never going back.

also brought it to a new shop to finish the work. Even they said it should have been totaled. It is what it is. Just have to move on.

 

Be happy you don't have government run auto insurance in your state.
Up here in Canada, we have British Columbia, Saskatchewan and Manitoba with provincial government insurance.
Quebec has a variant of this insurance as well.
British Columbia has the highest auto insurance rates in Canada (as well as the highest gasoline prices in North America).

My truck still isn't fixed . The new shop I went to which I'm familiar with and have used before forgot to order the parts. The day I walked in, the owners house had burned down and his second in command over there went on a week vacation, so the parts were never ordered and I just found out about this 3 days ago, which is almost a month later from when they said they'd order them. When they called my INS, the INS agent told them I have to use the original shop that did the work which is a lie. They gave me in writing the ok to use the other shop. The incompetence of Farmers Ins is mind numbing.

I'm guessing it was only totaled because the airbags deployed? My neighbor hit a deer with his 2016 Expedition earlier this year and the damage was a lot worse than yours, but they fixed it; The airbags didn't deploy, so I'm guessing that's why...

That makes sense. With my accident, they did not even consider fixing it, but not sure if part of it was just how blatantly the other driver blew through the light backed up with multiple witnesses.
Still cannot believe it happened the day after picking it up after driving down to Oakland to get it.

Man, it sucks you are having to deal with that crap. Been there, done that. Whatever you do, don’t switch to Progressive. I was in a bad accident in 2008, t-boned by a dude with minimum liability coverage ($12k). My hospital bill was north of $340k. I had underinsured/uninsured motorist coverage maxed out at $300k, had been paying for the policy for over 14 years and they refused to pay. My lawyer had to actually sue them. It took almost 8 months and then they only paid little pieces at a time over a 6 month period. Meanwhile I was so busy learning how to walk again I couldn’t work and the dirty hospital collectors from every department were harassing me and destroying my credit. Fuck insurance companies. They are just like the VA - keep you frustrated until you get the fuckits and quit or you die before they ever get around to doing what’s right.It’s just ridiculous and all boils down to a bunch of sociopaths everywhere you go these days.

 

Thanks brother. My left shoulder is, pardon the expression, wrecked. I ended up moving to Huntington Beach as medical care in an area as remote as Humboldt County is simply trash.

That said, to still be able to walk and so on is a tremendous blessing considering the severity.
I will say our vehicles car sure take a lick.
