Thoughts on the Rotopax system?(New Member)

Personally I'm not a big fan of storing fuel on the roof. If I was prioritizing fuel storage I'd invest in a bumper/ swingout of some kind.

Even just moving the spare to a swingout would free up the spare tire location for the Trail'd spare fuel tank mentioned in post #16

Edit: Reviewing the Trail'd Spare Tank it doesn't necessarily say it's for fuel storage. On their site it specifies safe water or "liquid" storage... I'm curious if it would suffer the same tank swelling issues the Rotopax has when storing fuel.

 

That looks nice. I haven't looked at their storage solutions in a while. I like how they have a latch over the top so as to keep it secure and over the spout. Looks fairly simple in design like someone resourceful enough could weld up their own cage for them. I keep mine inside a truck or trailer.

As an addition to their warning label on the 20 Liter style it should read. "Not for persons with Toothpick Arms" It's awkward to lift them high. Like lifting your kids over your shoulders and holding them there whilst they squirm around with the sloshing liquid.

 

Very true. I can't imagine lifting 40+ pounds worth of fuel tank onto a roof and into one of those top loading cages without being able to physically stand on the roof.

 

I suppose it can be done with the correct rack and jerry can holder.
