This truck doesn't even care

I'm always surprised what this thing can do in 2wd. I've gone up some pretty steep, bumpy grades that were fairly wet in 2wd.

 

Good tires are really the key to success. Everything else is window dressing.

 

A couple of questions: 1) Where did you get your spare tire carrier? 2) Do you like it? 3) Does it rattle or make any unpleasant noises?

 

A-Track on and rear locker engaged is a pretty good combo. You get the extra traction up front at a much lower risk compared to front lockers.

Rigid armor, tire carrier and license plate holder. It rattles, and there's also some wind noise, plus my license plate is not lit. The view frim the backup camera is sufficient for me So some problems that I need to deal with

 

I got the TRD off-road for its four-wheel drive shifter lol.

 

You can see here that Jeep's BLD is not as quick as Toyota's A-Trac, A-Trac wouldn't allow that much wheel spin

How much does it cost to fix your locker? I have used mine a few times and after reading your story, when the actuator takes a while to make a pop, I get nervous lol.

You’re having one hell of a trip.

 

I think the fact that you’re using it, it will probably never fail. It’s when you never use it, you lose it.

Usually the actuator craps out due to impact damage or water ingress. Wiring damage is of course possible, but that's much cheaper to fix after visual inspection.

 

I'm not sure. I haven't really looked into fixing it much.

 

James is my favorite TFL guy. His confidence in A-Trac is inspiring. Tackled the 7 out 10 obstacle with A-Trac as if it was nothing.

Ditto. I like to think that when I pull that lever I'm not asking the truck to go into 4WD, I'm telling it to.
Alas, with all these sensors and solenoids that's not really how it works xD

Too much for our stock rear-end specially at 12 psi

 

Yes, buried in 6" of mud it will have enough resistance to break a flap loose. I don't see a lot of people recommending 12 psi, but I don't figure the pressure played a big role in the mudhole.

 

The thing is an absolute beast, traction is not the issue, it's the angles. Anyways, I just ordered a steel bumper, and will get rid of the mud flaps

 

Can't really complain about the angles, the thing is also carrying my my mattress.
