This has to be a needle bearing right?

It is very similar to an engine bearing. Installation video is still loading

No, it doesn't. I read that after I took it in. So, they are probably correct. Now I have to figure out why my Falken Wildpeaks are messed up after 25,000 miles when I've done 3 alignments, rotated them every 5k, check the pressure once a month ... the internet is full of people complaining about them too.

If it helps any I still felt a rumble when slowing down even in 4WD. Rumble is gone too when I did the bearing. I know everyone says to check in 4WD but I don't think its 100% accurate.

[EDIT] - Nevermind, I found it. I'm new to 4Runners and the forum, so I've been absorbing a ton of info as fast as I can.

Do you mind posting the link? After watching the video, this is definitely something I can do on my own. I'm considering doing this anyway just for peace of mind after reading through this thread.

Thank you! I know a lot of people will appreciate knowing it can be done without removing the axle from the hub. Sorry that you had to fight a stubborn bump stop...

Oh for a lift...standing up looks a lot more pleasant than lying on the ground.

Thanks again; I'll be looking for your new thread.

It probably can, the tools they offer with the bushing are going to be under $200, and they are designed to do a specific job. The resident expert here on the ECGS bushing install is MyWyfsRnnr, he has done several.

@MyWyfsRnnr great video!! Very well done. A lift looks like it definitely makes it easier. You look like one of my friends from AZ. Everyone has a doppelganger. Lol!

To you it is strange, that you never rebuild Yamaha outboard.

Some tread patterns are more prone to uneven wear by simple geometry - the leading edges of tread blocks get rounded. Not much you can do aside from playing with tire pressures. What pressures are you running? Have you gotten them rebalanced? (Balance can change as tread wears)

Yep. Same. If it doesn't have kdss you have to pull the sway bar end link

I did the video only using hand tools, I usually use a few other tools to make it go faster but they are more specialized (like an air hammer etc)

Nice! I should meet them! Haha! A lift actually makes it a little harder to line up the two lower ball joints bolts. Factory height with kdss is the easiest. I will link a follow up video when I get another one and show a couple more tricks. It will be a short one for sure though

What issues? The ones that completely went away after replacing the bearing?

The bronze/PTFE material is porous at the microscopic level, allowing diff oil to saturate it. The bushing should not be run dry.

It probably costs 0.1 mpg in fuel consumption and therefore Toyota doesn't adopt it, even in next year's 6th gen.

I keep them at 32 PSI, generally checking once/month. I have the alignment checked every 10k. I didn’t have them re-balanced, no … I never noticed anything suggesting they were out of balance. All 4 have the same wear pattern, FWIW.
