Nope. Because I'm a gray haired old fart. I graduated from heartbreak ridge, fought (peacefully and silently) in the cold war and have more experience in the trades than you might imagine.

People are generally assholes especially on forums. They would rather write a long winded response about how to use a search function than simply helping the person out. People are assholes nothing more.

 

How come when I search oil change or tire size, this useless thread pops up? Oh because numerous and useless threads render the search function useless.

 

Telling someone how to use the search function has its altruistic side. Give a man a fish/ teach a man to fish, and all that …

Haha. Finding this thread in a search for oil change or tire size is like finding a needle in a haystack. There are so many such threads because so few folks use the search function. One of life’s tragic ironies.

 

The limiting factor is how much you are willing to cut........

A bit off topic but: I want to share information on my ban which came without notice or warning, figured this was a good thread to do so. I am not able to create threads now, and the forum is very slow and buggy after the ban even after clearing the cache. I can only make posts and I figured this was the perfect place to do so. This was a month long ban, for what you may ask? As I was not told at all, but one can speculate.

A while ago I posted a thread on an identification request on a flagpole. I updated the thread around election time saying how I ended up zip tying a flag to my ladder which worked pretty well. I posted the pic of my setup, where you could barely make out the words T**MP 2024. This picture is on my Insta now @zombie4runner if you wanted to see the example. The thread has no profanity or arguments, just discussions. I even got a ton of likes on the pic here. I tried logging on to the site a few days later only to see I was banned without reason. I looked on the site's rules and I could not find any rule that was broken so I reached out to the site staff. I asked for details of the ban but my email went unanswered. Before the ban and before posting the pic, I noticed someone even commented "I need one of these for my T**MP flag!". As I searched back for the comment, I can only imagine that the forum mods banned this individual as well.

We all have differing political views and my post did not incite or cause any arguments. Heck, it didn't even turn to a political discussion. We are all adults on here and should act like it. I have liberal friends in my life and a majority of my family is liberal, and we don't let differing views have an impact on our relationship. We are able to communicate and discuss topics as ADULTS, because that's what we are.

I probably will get banned again for this post, but would like to say I do not care since intense censorship is not something that I want to be a part of. I just wanted to show my flag rig. I hope all of you have a blessed day and remember, we are all ADULTS. ​

 

What a dissertation, anything related to politics is highly banned. Like instaban, no question. If things get remotely close to political it they give you an involuntary 30 day vacation. Nice way to be dismissive! If it's highly bannable how about mentioning it in the TOS on the site.

As I said, I know my next and probably permanent is coming and wanted to let people know about the experience.

Although I really don't think one should be banned over a picture with a political sign in the background. Most of us are adults and can handle the fact that not everyone agrees with our political views.

Edit: I also think that, if they're going to have 0 tolerance about anything remotely related to politics, it should be right at the top of the COC.

And, maybe they could make the COC a little easier to find.

Yeah, the rules aren't clearly and obviously laid out. They should have it posted as a sticky at the top of each section. I know on Tacoma World they had a LONG list of TOS Guidelines that clearly spelled out what you could not do.

I wish they would just import that list to this site. But they haven't. At any rate, tread very lightly when discussing political stuff. It's really best to leave it alone entirely. We're here to encourage others to spend even more money on their trucks!

I dont know the reasons boss, i dont run the show. I have however been given the involuntary vacation for ******* ***** *** ***** **** ****** *** **** ****** ***** ** ***** **********. I have been warned by members a time or two when i danced too close to the sun on a comment about something that leaned political and if you get warned by a member and can un-do your problematic issue prior to a jannie finding it then you might be good unless someone reported you which sends a screen shot to the jannie team. Unfortunately, yes you were just being proud of whatever it was you did and you had every right to. It is however incredibly unfortunate that you dont own this forum, nor do i, and the people that do have every right to kick us off without question.

 

Having trouble quoting people, site is so buggy since the ban I can barely use it. I get it now, I should have looked further. Thanks for hearing me out guys.

I got a timeout a while back as well. No idea what it was for but it doesn’t matter. What I wanted to tell you is that I had the same issues after the timeout as you are experiencing. I used the contact staff feature and it was resolved pretty quickly. If you decide to stay you can try that.

 

We called it the slow syrup on my old forum.

 

Maybe we could start a new forum where we can say whatever we want and talk about everything or nothing at all. It would be like free speech.

 

Go ahead and do that. See if you can run a forum as well as Bob and the moderators here do.

I'm not opposed to political discussion. But, it's been proven over and over that there are some people who can't have a mature disagreement. I've seen a handful of political conversations start out very well, but they almost always devolve into a dumpster fire.

 

Going from my experience in other forums, many times the rules aren't necessarily at the whim of the staff, but driven by requirements from sponsors, who may not want 'controversial' dicsussions associated with their advertising.

 

It would be nice if they were a little more tolerant or at least let us know the reason for getting banned. I have no idea what I did.

 

I created a Forum that did just that. A Forum Of By and For the People. It was awesome, and it was a huge moderating headache.

Members eventually revolted and overturned the mod staff and admins for a socialist autocracy.

like the banned memorial thread on TW that is like celebrating folks getting the hammer? It would be nice to get a message instead versus being posted about like your an example. In my opinion, that should be banned, but I don’t run the show, I just create content, once in a while worth reading.

 

On the forum Of By and For the people we would give a warning PM on the first offense, an infraction on the 2nd and then a temp ban on the 3rd. Slow syrup for those who were just trouble makers.
