You have wife and kids. You'll need the extra space. Keep the Sequoia as they are hard to find and you'll be glad for the extra room. If you travel at all you will enjoy the ride much better than the nosier 4Runner. I have a 4Runner so my wife had ridden in the vehicle. I'm on list to get her a '23 Sequoia Capstone. She will not drive a 4Runner. Repeating, for wife keep the Sequoia.

Quick update after driving about 6K miles in the 4R.

    Pros:
    • Build quality is top notch
    • Looks great, especially in Solar Octane
    • Wife has a much easier time driving the 4R than she did with the Sequoia
    • Comfortable enough for our family of 4, at least for shorter trips
    • Arguably more fun to drive than the Sequoia, since it feels more nimble
    • Somehow the parking garage gave me a cheaper rate for the 4R than they would have for the Sequoia, so I’m saving some money each month
    Cons:
    • Lackluster power. I knew that going in, but man I do miss the V8
    • Not even close to as much interior space as the Sequoia
    • Not as comfortable on long trips
    • Feels cramped sometimes when all 4 of us are in the vehicle
    • Wife doesn’t like Solar Octane. She thinks it’s too loud and looks like an emergency vehicle
    Overall:

To be perfectly honest, some days I regret trading the Sequoia. It’s a more rare vehicle, especially in the TRD Pro trim. I miss the comfort, space and power.

But for my current situation, I think the 4R is the better choice. It is a fantastic vehicle.
