I'm actually planning on going to the ADAMM car show this winter to check out some of the new stuff. I haven't been this interested in new vehicle models in a long time. I'm hoping to check out the new Tacos, GX, and hoping maybe they'll have a Landcruiser.

I saw the grey non overtrail one at the oc auto show not sure if it was a prototype but in person it looked cheap and not your typical refined well put together Lexus I was not impressed at all (exterior and interior)

That sucks that supply is so slow over there. I was also considering GX when I bought 4runner. I felt I could make it mine with enough mods -- except for that side opening door. Just could not get past it.
I think you will be much more comfortable in your GX, for sure, than 4Runner. How much discount are they willing to give? Its almost unheard of from toyota/lexus, over past couple of years!

Do you need to be invited to these auto shows? Would love to go but the ones showing up near Boston are all classic car auto shows.

I disagree, as someone who sat in both 460 and 550 I'm glad the wood is gone from the 550. If I wanted wood on a vehicle I'd get a boat. The fit and finish is excellent for a prototype. The badly needed updates inside and outside of the 550 is what sealed the deal for me on whether to go between the 460 and 550. The more tidbits I read about the engine, transmission, suspension, etc... on the 550 the more I like it.

In the above photo, if that's the new GX-550, it looks really good IMHO.

All good points, I agree about the price but when has Lexus been affordable? I have faith in the Japanese building the GX, LC, and 4runners correctly. Time will tell how well the engine, turbos, and transmission holds up in the long term. Remember Toyota has decades of experience in turbo motors throughout the world...they finally decide to bring it here in this century

you’re making the right choice! The V8 alone would make me choose the outgoing model.

Maybe not new, but the ES, IS and RX are all pretty reasonable pre-owned due to popularity.

Other than that, I guess it depends on your definition of "affordable "

It seems appealing until you realize that you have to fill it with premium. But, if the added fuel cost isn't a turnoff, they're pretty nice.

Why bother with premium in the Civic?

Oh. I was curious, and all I can find is that it requires a minimum 86 octane. :notsure:

Edit: ok, now I found something where people are recommending premium. Not sure why Honda makes it so hard to find online.

I’m on my second GX460. (2010 and currently 2016)They’ve always required premium gas. Haven’t used any in mine ever. Computer adjusts, might be giving up a couple HP, but no issues ever.

When I was at the Overland PNW show I looked underneath and it is bolt to the body like many other running boards.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
I really wanted to consider buying a 2022 GX but just could not get past that incredibly ugly front grille.
    This one is MUCH better.

Good eye on this, and slick looking ride for sure OP @STrooper

I dunno if I'd say it has ruggedness, but definitely nice, still kinda looks to me similar to the Land Cruiser look.

110% there's a new 2025 or 26 4Runner coming, they're frickin' everywhere I look on the road. There's no way they're not continuing this popular line up after such a successful generation. I don't think Toyota wishes to even pause the 4R and bring it back later on purpose.
And this GX is in different league than the Runner I dunno if I'd say it's a replacement in any way :p

But for some Reason. The dealers are trying to shift the 4Runners stock off the lot.
I have a flyer with 4Runners $3000 off MRSP whilst Tundra's are $4500 off MSRP guaranteed.

Much agree. It just seems the right "look" for these vehicles.

Unfortunately all Toyotas and Lexus will have a high price tag across the board.

So Tacoma pricing is out, and now the GX. Did we see LC250 pricing yet? I can't remember.

Either way, we're able to see the framing for these vehicles moving forward. Pure speculation, I'd expect the 4R price increases to mirror the Taco increases (for the new generation, if/when that happens).

This puts a smile on my face. Pricing is not too bad for what you get! Lexus priced it right and it will sell like hot cakes... but let's see how much the stealerships will mark them up :frustrated:

I'm starting to get nervous for the 4Runners... I'm starting to think the 5th gen might be the last one at least for now. The LC has the same powertrain and basically the same frame as the Taco... and not only that but it's not that much bigger than the 5th gen 4Runner. Where does the 4Runner fit in the new line-up?

And if you buy the top trim, add some options and pay tax, you'll be over a 100 Grand for a glorified 4Runner. It's nothing short of hilarious! And 15/21 for 17 mpg....does that sound familiar to anyone? It's a monumental side splitter. Get a GX460 YESTERDAY!
