    Your probably right.

I noticed when I was doing an internet search on this topic that remedies were all over the map. Most of the websites that say nothing will work to repel them are actually exterminator websites. Of course they want you to hire them to do their thing.

My wife is a Buddhist, but she understands mice and rats are disease carrying vermin and doesn’t get too upset over them.

My wife is a Buddhist too but she is has pretty strong ideas about things like hunting, fishing, killing insects & rodents, firearms etc. So I have to come up with different ways not to hurt her believes and sometimes hide certain things not to hurt her believes. Since I'm not a Buddhist I have no info talk about it nor I'm not good at Bible studies so I cannot give anything from my believes either..:)

    Yep
So my dad has a cabin up in the woods very remote … next to the Cherokee national forest.
    Cars and trucks park outside.

Welp a few years mice/rodents got into moms Lexus and ate the literal shit out of the wires. Fd that car up and spendy fix.

Ever since they have been spraying the ground around, the tires and in the engine compartment with stuff like shown in these pics. Have had no probs since.

Don't blame me, I voted for Trump.
I had mice in the garage. Purchased a crap load of traps and poison, got some but still around. I purchased the sonic things from Amazon and 4 or 5 plastic fake snakes.......no more mice. Not sure if sonic did it or I wore them out with catches in the traps. My tactics were to leave the dead ones in the traps for a few days so the rest of them could see them. I also used glue traps ...........worked well........ but the little fellers were still wiggling.

Picked up a couple of 1/2 ounce bottles of pure peppermint oil.
I just sprinkled/dripped the oil around the engine bay, fresh air inlets and front suspension parts on the vehicles.

I don’t know if it will really help but the cars and the garage smell nice now. It’s a pretty strong scent.

I had my 2019 4Runner Limited visited by mice. They chewed through the foam insulation around the AC lines and chewed through the wiring for all 3 fuel injectors on the passenger side engine bank. The soy based wiring makes a nice food source.

They didn't go into the airbox - I always wondered if that's because I have a TRD air filter that is oiled...

I started using these botanical rodent repellent pouches, about 2 years ago, and haven't had any further problems. I strategically place three pouches in the engine bay and change them every 3 months.

Yes, a very eclectic bunch here. I wonder if jeepers are so deep and complex.

And to think I started this thread with a chewed up cabin filter, this is a proud moment for me. :)

When I had my shop and house with attached garage built I went around and made sure everything was sealed as much as possible. I put rat/mouse bait around the edges and corners and so far after 7 years, no sign of the little pests. Knock on wood. The only problem I had was the builder made friends with the squirrels and was feeding them in the garage so when I first moved in, one got trapped in the garage and chewed up the new blinds that I had just put in before I chased it out.

Here’s my plan in addition to the peppermint oil I dripped all over.

Gonna hang a mouse repellent bag in the engine compartment on my vehicles. It’s main active ingredient is peppermint oil.

FYI, if you guys and gals decide to use peppermint oil, make sure you wash your hands good before touching your face, eyes or eating. I probably didn’t need to say that but I just in case.

I used some leftover metal window screen to cover the top of my cabin air filter. I realize mice can chew through metal but maybe it will slow them down.
I did a test fit and it goes in slot fine as long as you don’t make it wider than the felt ends.

I used my old chewed up filter to test.
