Let's have some reasons why, because I know people in the industry that trust 4WP. Is it a specific location? That I could understand rather than throwing the whole company under the bus.

Parts falling off. Incorrect parts. They did the DSI parts install on a vehicle I purchased.

For those that don't know, a dealer can arrange with a third party parts--like lift kits and so on. The dealer sells the vehicle with a mfg warranty that covers all the DSI work as well. All things considered, the warranty worked in this instance but knowing who did the work, I would not go there for additional work.

Understood - but throwing the whole company with many locations under the bus is not fair - to the company and possibly the people here on the forum. What city did you buy your truck from? Or name the dealer if you wish. I'm guessing you might be in area code 408, which is South Bay Area?

An opinion was asked for and then reasons. I gave you both. If you'd like to support them feel free, I'm not gonna ask you to justify it.

Fuck 4WP. I had 2 alignments done there and they DIDNT DO THE ALIGNMENT. They did a little but it was way out of spec and was messing up my tires.

The 2nd time I'm pretty sure they didn't even check the alignment at all and showed me paperwork from a different vehicle.

Okay, thanks for the input. I appreciate everyone taking the time to post the experience they had. Will steer clear of them.

I just got an alignment done this morning at Swat Customs in Fremont (but they do everything). They really, really, really knew their shit. Talked to Rob the whole time the alignment was getting done. That guy knew pretty everything about 4runner suspension. And best of all my car finally feels good. All the other places didn't / couldn't align the rear. I intend to go back there next time I need something.

I cannot recommend swat. They made promises and never fulfilled them. When I got rims they scratched the old ones and instead of a sorry, they went straight to denial. I would very much recommend Beep's Offroad in Hayward. First time I ever went with an estimate and the work came in under the estimate and they lowered their final price.

Hi. Moving to Antioch in the next month or so. Looking to explore NorCal, hit the hills and mushroom hunt in 2024. Any groups or peeps doing this in the area?

Hey All, Can anyone recommend any good tire shops in the San Jose area that can balance tires without any wobble?
    Thanks!

Try your local discount tire. They all have Hunters Road Force Balance machines.

Ask them to use adapter plates for your Toyota (some call them spider plates or finger plates).

Ask them to turn off the "Smart Balance" setting on the machine while running the balance.

Ask them for the run out numbers when they are done. If they are above 20, ask them if they can get it below 20. If they can't, you have a defective tire that is going to wobble. Put that one in back until you can replace it.

    @nimby
I took your advise, went to Discount Tire. The road force balance numbers all came out at 4 and 10.
No rubbing since they are stock Mickey Thompsons, Method 308 Roost 17x8.5, 0/4.75.
    Thanks for your help!!

    No worries!

Did it smooth out the wobble?

Just keep in mind it will come back over time and you'll need a rebalance to smooth it back out.

Lifetime balance is a very worthwhile purchase for these vehicles.

I've always used Skip's they warranty their tires too, if they can't patch it, they replace for free.

Recently bought a 2024 TRD PRO and was looking to see if anyone in the area happen to be selling the OEM trail running boards. I’m located in the Peninsula. Thanks

Hello from San Jose. Replaced my wife's car with our first 4Runner back in July. It'll serve as our bike hauler and camping rig. Any need for catalytic converter shields (theft deterrence) for these?
