i'm stoked to graduate. i've been working as a tutor and investing my money wisely throughout college mostly to pay for truck stuff and booze and guns and other toys. I have to say though, i'm pretty jaded toward the whole higher ed thing. This whole school is a sham and im starting to feel that way about how everything requires degrees and degrees... like i don't want to go get an MBA just to advance in a job. hopefully its just undergrad that feels so pointless

its my experience that experience pays. Education is great, it just wasnt for me. I have over 10 years in my industry but some places for whatever reason think they need to scare off perfectly good candidates with demanding a degree. I personally would take proven experience over a piece of paper and a person with a big bag of debt behind them.

It's what you do with that degree that will differentiate you from those that just wanted a piece of paper

thats awesome. Not many can do that. Its a double edged sword. You need experience to get jobs but cant get the job because you dont have the degree. Its pretty ridiculous sometimes.

I've recently starting focusing on my education. I just finished my CCAF which is an accredited Associated Degree through the Air Force. I'm now trying to knock out my BA just trying to narrow down the schools which credit most or all of my previous credits. My career field / rank has been on the hook for Force Management (reduction) since it dropped last year. I hope to at least have my degree finished and about 10 years experience in the military to my name if I can't duck the cuts. The health insurance is the real pull for me as my Wife has run in to some serious health "setbacks" the past few years. If I hadn't been in the military when this went down I can only imagine the cost / debt we'd be facing now.

I'm studying for a business degree but at this point I feel like I'm just in it for the paper because I know all this stuff already from personal experience. Oh well

Just poking fun man. Resentful humor, coming from someone who is working 2 jobs to pay for full time classes

Not lots of money actually. I mean, $12/hr for a machinist with no prior experience isn't bad, but that job is 7am-3:15 today. Then I have my second job, 7/11, from 4-11 tonight. That's only $8 an hour. What's nice about 7/11 though is I get time and a half on holidays :)

I'm not a huge drinker. I DO get shitfaced when I play GTA but other than that, I'll usually have a beer or two and call it a night lol. I don't have fun when I'm hammered (unless playing GTA)
