Hopefully you're okay. Wouldn't hurt to go ahead and replace the plug if you feel necessary. I hate 12 point, but sometimes it's all I can find.

I've found 12 points tend to not have enough surface area to grab onto, a 6 point may work better

Yep ordered one of those from the local Toyota dealership. $4 isn't too bad but $3.40 each for the gaskets is a bit silly. And searching far and wide at my local hardware stores, the only 6 points I'll ever see are impact sockets for the larger sizes. Have to go to Amazon for everything nowadays.

I've realized now that I've never used the 12 points in the big craftsman tool set I got years ago. They had the right mind to put 6 point combo wrenches in the set though.

I ended up welding a nut on my 4runner and my Tacos drain plugs. Never had a problem again.

I used to buy absolutely everything on Amazon when they didn't charge us CA folks tax. Even now I still spend quite a bit of time and money on Amazon. Shame I couldn't find anything to get on Prime day.

I may have to do that if the 6 point wrench can't get it off

Yep...I bought wheel spacers for my Lexus last night. Went on Amazon for a wrench, came out $300 poorer.

im not totally sure how it would react to different speeds since i assume it has the same level of contact when its off regardless of speed

very possible. If it continues i might just swap out rotors and check out parking brake too. It very well might be rubbing and maybe needing an adjustment or replacement. It DOES have 133k.

I think it's the lug nuts. They are the acorn ones with the collar to center the wheel. I'd expect it causes more heat and eventually softens the metal. Only thing I can think of.
