ordered new LCA bushings. fffuuu

 

i had to order another single lug nut from wheelers. Either these lug nuts suck or toyotas lugs suck. Either way i've never gone through so many lugs and lug nuts with stripping or cross threading as much as i have with these.

 

no regrets having the dealer do my Timing Belt/Water Pump. Knowing it was done right (by a guy who actually owned a 97 4Runner coincidentally) was worth it to me.

I joined in on the part about the boat, it was pretty funny.

 

Probably going to take somewhere up to 6 hours depending on what methods they use. I had balljoints replaced too though.

I've never had any issues with cheap lug nuts. But the lug nuts that come with wheel spacers seem to change shape pretty quickly on me.

I didn't see it, but considering I personally know a bunch of the guys who were posting in it, I know everything that happened and everything that went down after in PMs

 

Thinking ill do just the bushings and use the heating method since i have plenty of torches around. Hopefully i can get both done in a day. Probably wont do LBJs unless they're super sloppy when i take them off. They look like a HUGE bitch to do.

I was actually told the LBJ's were way easier than the bushings, so long as you have a press. Apparently they were done within an hour. Probably better to get those out of the way while the LCA's are off the vehicle, unless yours are low mileage.

 

im going to guess OEM and i just rolled over 123k. fak i should just buy them and have them done at the same time. otherwise i might have to do it again soon.

You cannot make this stuff up. Keak posted three weeks ago that he installed a tranny cooler. Notice the lines aren't connected. Fast forward to today and he posts a pic of his latest mod. Cooler isn't hooked up.

I started on my gauge swap (was Amber before)


Drove the FJ for the first time with shoes instead of boots. I had no idea it made that much of a difference! Stalled twice, bringing my stall total to 3 in the last week

 

What's the clutch like? Light or heavy?

 

Guessing heavy if he stalled with shoes but not with boots

 

The clutch is medium-heavy. Very easy to work in traffic, but not a feather light clutch by any means.

What was happening is my boots are probably .5" thicker than my Nike shox, so I was pulling my foot out to the sweet spot I had found while wearing boots, and it would be too much clutch at once and she would stall on me.

I was also focused on recalibrating the compass, so I wasn't listening to the engine or looking at the tach, and I had the radio going, so... I wasn't paying attention.

Oh well, it's a learning curve, and it only happened twice yesterday!

I hated toyotas high clutch sweet spot. Felt like i was driving a cargo van.
