a 30 mile commute here = 1.5-2 hours each way.
I commute 30 mins on the subway, probably the same by bike. my gf drives 5 miles, sometimes it takes her 2 hours.

theres no public transportation for her to use? a bike would be far more efficient. i know what you mean about the commuting in a city, i live in a small one, but id gladly have double the house and quadruple the land and a shitty commute as a trade off

negative. she's a teacher, in a school in a bad neighborhood 15 minute walk from the closest metro stop. even if she wanted to talk transit, it isn't safe getting to/from.

to each his own, i'd rather live close to a city. Doubtful I would be able to find a job further out that would pay comparable to things around here.

The land my parents are going to build on soon is 35 minutes from the closest grocery store, and at least an hour to Walmart or anything like that

my mom lives on a mountain in upstate NH. 20 minutes from the closest grocery store, 45 minutes from the closest walmart. I love it up there. My apartment is a stones throw from most fast food joints, 3 grocery stores, 2 hardware stores, etc. i live off a very busy 4 lane road. my commute is anywhere from 25-1.5 hours depending upon weather/traffic. pretty safe area, well kept apt. complex. a 1 bedroom 1 bath is 570. not bad IMO. only thing that sucks is the snow removal. but 4wd fixes that.

Yeah, I'm workin on it! Clutch is my main focus right now. Then I'll do other things to it lol.

I ordered a bumper and a short throw kit for it already.

    I LOVE that about NH

It'll have plenty of those, done right..
