Looking at this more in depth I think I am gonna start this project tomorrow. I think I will try and tuck it up closer to the top of the window but otherwise way better than my original idea and this looks easier. I love the bar that runs across the top too, nice touch.

    Cool! Post pictures.

The bar across the top is part of the fishing rod rack. If you don't use it for that, you could definitely hang some tools or recovery gear up there.

Prinsu is aluminum and I believe victory is too. Most use 80/20 crossbars with their own side plates.

I prefer square for most things

Got the mount bars mostly done today. Gotta wait to do the rest. I needed to order studs because I need to bring the lower base plate out an inch or so.

hey badassguy is yours at an angle or straight up and down. I’m debating whether I want a slight angle to match the interior wall or not.

Was researching radios myself after our recent outing. Rago has a nice mount for antennas that attaches near the hatch out back. Should work nicely for forest dwellers. I’d probably be better of getting off my butt and getting my ham ticket, but with the local crew using CB, it’s only so useful.

Ham is popular with the Iowa Tacoma crew. The guys at Performance off-road are using GMSR(?) and it's supposed to be nice. I'll continue using CB as long as the guys I hang out with are.

I like the hatch mount idea, but I would need a longer antenna to get above the roof line.

This is probably the most responsible MOD so far. I ran out if water on the camping trip, and decided I needed a proper water jug.

True! I have met some cool people here.

    Yup.

In hindsight, this is definitely better. At least here people aren't allowed to talk about politics. That's an ugly subject right now. The media has done an excellent job of turning people against each-other based on different political views.

Absolutely! I can't believe how much some folk seem to hate them. I can only imagine they purchased them thinking they would be absolutely amazing in every scenario, and got mad when they realized that every tire is a compromise.

Speaking of KO2. When winter hits I'm interested in your opinion with them and the Toyo.
Hope winter stays away but, well that's how it rolls!

I thought my KO2s performed well on the snow and ice. But in cases where it mattered due to extreme weather, I was in 4WD. That made a difference. When the roads aren’t clear, I’m in 4WD for safety.

Note, however, I’ve only had stockers and KO2s on my 4Runner, so no other frame of reference.

They were excellent tires for me. Based on my experience, and the people I know who use them, I really don't understand the negative comments. What load range were yours?

    :duel:

If the PRO came with it, everyone would want it. I guess Toyota wanted the OFF-ROAD to have an advantage.

It looks great so far! I guess I better finish mine off sometime. :D

I'm actually looking forward to trying them out as well. The KO2's were good in snow, but not the best I've had. So far the Yokohama Geolanders on my '03 SR5 have been the best. Of course, that was full time 4wd, so maybe not a fair comparison.

I hung out with my Mom and her Boyfriend on the river this weekend. Friday afternoon this guy was hanging out by the 4runner, trying to stay warm! It was oddly bold, and let us get very close to it.

    20200911_184242(1).jpg

The water was super low, and I was able to drive from the beach I usually dick around on all the way up to the gravel bar by the Tiki bar. I had to park by the air-boat, just for grins.

    20200911_182153_HDR.jpg

I decided to take a little detour on the way home to get some tasty spring water and stop by some places I haven't been in a few years.

    20200913_163804.jpg

North Twin lake- we used to camp here almost every summer for a few days. The campsites have been closed for the last few years due to some political bullshit.

    20200913_165057_HDR.jpg

South Twin lake- This is a neat little lake as well. Clear water, and we caught a crap-load of small bass the one time we put the boat in.

Awesome pics @Thatbassguy! Looks like a really cool spot.

Back to the KO2 topic for a second. I ran them on a work truck for years and liked almost everything about them.

My only complaint was in the rain......mostly at highway speeds.

They felt like they wanted to wander a little and didn't feel planted in those types of situations.

I really wish they came with a couple of rain grooves just to direct the water a bit better.

That being said, they're always on my shortlist for tires. If I decide to switch tires up at some point, it would probably be with KO2's.

It really is! I'm fortunate to have access to it.

Yes, I have heard the same thing. The tread pattern does seem like it could trap water.

I thought they were a good all-round tire. They weren't necessarily the very best at anything, but they were pretty good at everything.

Hi ForRun, I run e range K02s in spring, summer and fall, and I run true winter tires in winter - mine are Blizzaks. For safety and sure footedness you can’t beat a winter tire in winter. Some guys here think because a tire has snow rating, and a luggy tread, it can be used in winter. Winter tires are made of a softer compound, and they’re grippier on snow and ice. Winter tires are excellent. And, in some areas of Canada, they’re the law.

Yes, true winter tires can't be compared to any 3PMSF all terrain. I don't think anyone here would expect them to.

But, in areas with milder winters, a 3PMSF AT might be sufficient. I have never run snow tires on a 4×4 yet. I suspect it is downright enjoyable. But, for now, I'm getting by with what I have.
