Sounds like something that was probably manufactured specifically for Jeep. But, I just looked out of curiosity, and there are actually 4 MT's available in load range C in a 285/70/17. I didn't notice that when I was shopping for them. Although, I'd never bother with an MT that wasn't an E anyway.

You fit 295/70r17 on your BRS wheels with no rear clearance issue and no trimming on the rear, stock?

Correct. It seems like the problems are always up front. They're tight back there, but I've never noticed any rubbing.

Somehow I totally forgot to check out your damage...

Thankfully my neighbor fixed my tailpipe by shoving the handle of a floor jack up in there and working it really good and oh my god that sounds so inappropriate...

    Lol!

I really wish I'd have chopped mine before it was too late.

Added to the list. Need to get my exhaust chopped and viper cuts now that I’m on 35s.

I was absolutely stoked to see this post. I have that exact Thule rack — I used it since 2011 on my previous two Jeep Patriots and I love it. However, I have not put it on my 2023 4Runner because it won’t fit in my garage!! So I’ll probably sell it and hope that a shorter rack will fit in the garage. Would you have any idea what that Thule rack would sell for?

Unfortunately, I have no idea. I got it as a gift, and have never really looked to see what they were worth. I ended up selling it to a guy who had sold me a bunch of stuff for the 4Runner early on, but I can't remember how much for. Probably under $100, though.

Definitely cut the exhaust before it gets wrecked. Mine is so bent up that I had to cut it back further forward than I wanted to to keep it from vibrating against the bumper cover. I just noticed this weekend that it melted the mud flap a little bit. I would recommend cutting it further back, just the turn down and the tip probably.

I had an incident with a deer on the way home from dinner with my brothers last night. ~40 MPH, and hit it on the passenger side. Fender is bent, and whatever inner structure holds, the headlights, grill and bumper cover is bent downward and somehow forward at the top.

    :annoyed:

Edit: Don't mind the dirt. I just haven't had time to wash it since this weekend.

Time for a more protective bumper like the ARB?

Unfortunately, the bumper is the only thing that seems to be ok.

Local shop told me someone brought one of those in, and it was such a pain to install that it was 20 hours of shop labor.

    What shop?

I know a lot of front bumpers require cutting. I might be looking into this soon. :anonymous:

Hopefully this is easily fixed. Do you think the damage is bad enough to make an insurance claim?

Not sure yet. I haven't had a chance to look at it in a light yet. But, with how everything is misaligned in front right now, it seems like some inner structure is tweeked. I'm thinking I'll take it for a preliminary estimate after work today before contacting my insurance guy. I'm hoping for the best, but I'm pretty nervous about it.

Well hopefully it will just be a minor inconvenience and they give you a Bronco or Rubicon loaner for the time in the shop (to do some comparative analysis ;) )

Hard to say how a deer collision will go. The most important part is you made it through safe. It seems like 4runners eat deer pretty safely, instead of punting them up over the hood. How big would you say it was?

I got some better pictures after work today. It's actually a fair amount of damage. Everything is tweaked. Crap.
