    WTF is a Prestige 4Runner

And no part-time 4WD system overdrives the front differential. You'd have to have completely different ring and pinion ratios to do this. Or smaller tires up front.

Drivetrain binding occurs when the front wheels travel more distance than the rears (and are therefore rotating more). This occurs when the truck is making tight turns. It has nothing to do with overdriving the front axle. You can drive in a straight line in 4Hi as long as you like.

I have the 2019 StL Market SR5 Premium; not sure what a Prestige package is.

    Is plasti-dip a mod?!
Op, basically you are experiencing binding of the drivetrain, which you want to avoid if possible. For the tight turns, as long as it is not a slippery mess, just take it out of 4wd, then it won’t bind on you. Binding of the drivetrain can lead to excessive wear. So if you have decent traction, just put it in 2wd. Just keep in mind 4wd doesn’t help you stop, only go. Hope this helps.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
So I looked at the visor notice this morning. I had to pull it out of its pocket because I'm not 8 years old enough to see it from the seat :D It's even more vague than the manual, and nothing explicitly states that damage can occur in either the visor notice or the manual. So... Yeah. Still a good idea to avoid the binding from what I've read, though.

Hey man, I just got a 2018 & noticed the exact same thing while in the drive through at Taco Bell, kinda freaked me out. Thanks for asking the question. Looks like the answer is we should switch out of H4 when on solid/dry-ish surfaces.
