    congrats!

just outa curiosity, did you have to return the 4runner to stock form ie. suspensions, wheels/tires ?
did this deal come about because yours had very low miles on the 4runner?

I sold the car as it it was. I have a guy who owns a car brokerage company who I have purchased a number of cars from. He had someone lined up for a 4Runner and he also had the GX on his lot. Perfect marriage. Plus yes, very low miles and I was looking for a new adventure.

I hated it at first but got used to it and now really like the newer style grill. Plus I’ll get rid of most of it by getting this bumper haha

I look past the aesthetics of any vehicle. That's not to say make them into a beater. Safety, functionality and reliability are what it's all about. I remembering you mentioning you have a family. That's a great reason right there to choose this vehicle. As the kids grow, that GX460 is going to be a lot more comfortable than the 4Runner.

I am absolutely blown away by the number of forum members here and other platforms who are constantly bagging on grills, turbo motors, direct injection, variable cam timing, etc.

I'm disappointed in others outlook who are only concerned with looks and/or unable to grasp and embrace technology that moves forward.

Well said. My first reasoning on purchasing both 4runner and GX was reliability.

This isn’t mine. But I plan on doing a front and rear bumper with tire carrier.

While I have no interest in the Pro grille look personally, and like the look of my 4R OR as it comes from the factory (grille emblem, wheels, chrome accents, badges, & bumper valances included), I also see no need to "grasp and embrace" any more "technology that moves forward" than what my 2019 4R has. Electronic driving/safety features, larger and more capable infotainment screens, and other additional tech features, while very useful to many, are distractions that I don't feel the need for to enjoy driving my 4R. I realize I'm most likely part of a small minority, which is fine with me.

Beyond BSM/RCTA (to be rectified MY 22), the safety argument is pretty moot when talking new. While for sure the GX is quieter, when talking families, most prioritize cargo space over NVH.

Mostly, we are talking about two vehicles that short of grandma living in the Australian Outback, any arguments about either offering an optimal family experience first are tough to see over the sea of crossovers that is our car market.

That said, things like forced induction are a major consideration when going the distance. While certainly both models would not suffer additional hp/high altitude drivability, there is decidedly a cost. There is a reason that the dog poop slow 1UZ from my 100 Series is a legend to many. Under-stressed engines FTW.

agreed…we are lucky enough to have both the GX and my wife’s 4Runner. As much as I loved mine, the GX is so much more practical for what I do day to day. And when I have 4Runner envy, I’ll jump in the wife’s and have a grand ol time!

Looks great. No CarPlay would be a tough sell for me though. Really hard to go backwards. Congrats.

agreed, it was a tough transition but I just like the car so much. Figured I could always replace the head unit with a something nice down the line.

There are plug and play adapters out there too. Just odd Toyota/Lexus is so far behind other manufactures with something that is expected at this point.

That is easily solved with an interface module available at any reputable stereo shop.

So, there is an iterface that can be installed with my current head unit as opposed to replacing the entire unit? Maybe a dumb question but that seems like less of a hassle than replacing the entire unit and screen.

You have some cutting to do if you want to lift it, but it’s just plastic.

Not much cutting. All I had to do was remove and cut half of the sidesteps, cut front bumper and inner fender in the front, BMC... all to clear 33s with -10 offset. See that’s not so bad hahahaha

I’ve put about 600 miles on this thing since I bought it and I have to say it is an awesome ride. The V8 is just the right amount of power and the ride manners of the car are fantastic. Guzzling gas at an alarming rate but that is what I signed up for so I can’t complain! Loving it so far!

I went and drove a '19 Luxury today in case I get tired of waiting for a KDSS ORP to be allocated to my dealer.

It was nice and I'd be getting a '22 if I buy one. I just don't know that it's $12K better than the 4Runner. There are several things I don't like about it compared to the 4Runner but some things I do like.

I'm going to wait a couple of months to see if my build is allocated and if not probably get the GX instead since it'll be a normal build for my region.
