Seriously. We need a counter on how many posts before we use -- "it's not a real landcruiser" argument.
Who cares? Toyota calls it landcruiser and last I checked they own the trademark. It would be silly if we called them "real landcruiser" if they are 200 or 300 series, and "not-real landcruiser" if they are 250.

One-at-this-price stripper. Bought new 34 yrs ago, a $13K leftover. Added Detroit TruTrac, 1”rear spring spacer and “pinstripes”… Factory AC kit and roof rack bought at dealer cost at time of purchase, still blows ice cold 32yrs later. 2022 AG ORP all stock.
    BMW engine….high maintenance cost….no thanks.
If it had the Toyota 5.7 driveline….sign me up.
    They look cool though.

We all know the LC250 is really a "landcruiser sport"

Not sure about the Land Rover sport, but the bronco sport is a crossover. So, I would not lump the lc250 in with that.

Just because a handful of opinionated internet personalities don't like it does not make the Landcruiser not a Landcruiser.

Exactly: one of these things is not like the other.

The Range Rover Sport is more like the 4Runner Limited / TRD Sport, where it's essentially the same vehicle underneath. (Or it was a decade or so ago).

The Montero Sport was an entirely different vehicle, different frame, body, and everything.

    It's a Land Cruiser........the badge says so.
But is it a Land Cruiser of the previous model's caliber??? I'm not speaking of the Lexus style do-dads/gee-gaws, but the Land Cruiser underpinnings that have made previous Land Cruisers held in the esteem the name plate earned.
    We'll all have our opinions...........

I've had two FJ-40's and a FJ-45 P/U. Those 3 were 2-door models. I lost interest in the Cruiser line after the FJ-80.
When the FJ Cruiser line came out, I compared it to the AMC Pacer on steroids.
The FJC and all subsequent updates were just a pukefest to me.
Unless ToMoCo comes out with and imports a true utility vehicle instead of the current soccer dad wagons, I'll keep my $100,000 to my self.

Congrats! I saw one in the wild the other day and it was sick! I had to get next to it to check it out for a bit. Best of both worlds; electric speed and Toyota build quality. Love it. Hope you enjoy it!

I've seen t-shirts that say FBI but I'm not sure it originally stood for female body inspector. To me, land cruiser was more of a brand than a badge and I don't see the 250 living up to the standards. But what do I know, I'm just an inspector ;)

You should send a strongly worded letter to the Toyota executives expressing your concerns. I'm sure they'll rename it whatever you think is appropriate.

Reason people feel it’s a marketing ploy is because it’s part of the light duty family tree, instead of the wagon tree. So for the NA market, it’s kind of a switch n bait play. “The Land Cruiser is back!”

if they called it prado for us, then such argument would not stand.

That sounds like a lot of work for something I don't really care about. I'd rather just bitch about it on the interweb :anonymous:

Hope OP has a good experience unlike some of the LC250 owners with reliability issues. But I'm sure people buy the LC250 knowing it would not be reliable as 5th gen 4Runner, they buy it for little better mpg and new tech.

A quick update after owning it for almost 2 months now. I've had zero issues with it so far. It has a little over 2,200 miles. I havent really pushed it so to say - 90% city/highway driveway with some light trail riding. RPM's have not gone past 5k. The most underrated thing about this is the how well the full-time 4wheel drive works with the power, grip and acceleration. Power is instant and traction is amazing - you dont really notice how heavy the LC250 actually is. The upgraded 8 speed tranny helps a lot too and ive had zero issues with it shifting properly. The tranny is also like the 5th gen 4runner in terms of doing engine braking and running a gear lower and higher RPMs to help with the strain on brake components. If I were to make some complaints is: the engine is a bit loud when ideling at a stoplight, more so on a really hot day when the AC is running. Audio steering wheel controls lag like half a second which is a little annoying. The LC250 rides just like a 5th gen 4runner - you know you are riding in an SUV, but the front driver seat is much more comfortable than my 5th gen 4runner. Here are some pics of my current setup: have a Westcott Designs roof rack, Thule cargo box and Goodyear Duratracs (265's on stock rims). Attached are some cell phone pics - sorry for the blurry interior shot.

I wish Toyota had more options available for the base model. Mainly, the seats.

This looks a lot better than the few I've seen! Amazing what a roof rack and decent set of tires can do for offroady looks
