They have brought back the Wagoneer. It's more or less a Sequoia.

A Facebook memory of mine from 2012 came up the other day, regular was 3.27 89 was 3.37, and 93 was 3.47.

Besides the fact that gas today is cheaper considering inflation, I miss the days of the grades only being $0.10 apart. Now in the same area premium is about $0.90 a gallon more expensive. I used to not care that I had a DD that required premium, but now it's a deal-breaker.

Bruh.. I am waiting for the guinea pigs to provide field reports on the lc250/gx and Ineos grenadier. Would love to justify owning the latter( if not terribly unreliable). First model from a new company has a lot of risks.. but the risk may be worth it to own such a unique vehicle

It sucks that even with better mpg the LC will cost almost exactly the same to operate as the 5th gen with the 90 cent price difference in fuel.

Congrats! Love the cloth seats! Any way you can get a swaybar disconnect on that bad boy?
I am waiting for my GX550 halfheartedly, the 3.4T issues have made me nervous.

But the power is worth it, 465 ft lb of torque.

What does that even mean? How does the tank size offset economics?

I think he’s thinking that it will go the same range as the 4Runner for the same dollars.

It would be more logical to say that the premium requirement offsets the savings gained from the hybrid 4-cyl over a V6 4Runner, which is correct. Especially with today’s super high priced premium grades over 87 octane.

Meh. If I was looking for towing and power I’d buy a full size truck.

Good point. It can legally tow more, but practically, it will probably tow pretty similarly.

Eibach Stage 2 lift. Pro front grill. Sound deaden doors, cargo area, and rear tailgate. Diode Dynamics fog lights. Anytime front camera connected to Kenwood head unit. Kicker sub and amp. GX rear bump stop and Energy Suspension front bump stop. FJ cruiser shift knob, rear mollie panels, black paint climate control knobs.
Congrats on the new vehicle. No need to post reasons why you made the purchase. We are all guilty of wants instead of needs.
I would love to own one in the future, but my NY budget prevents this for now.
I do my own maintenance and the 4runner is simple. This would probably be my biggest reason not to get one, due to the added complexity. Anyway best of luck and keep us updated on any issues for future buyers.

I doubt many people will be towing much with them. They will be commuters and people movers. If we get one it will be my wife’s daily driver and used for snowboarding trips, etc. I’d rather have extra mpgs than extra power for what we will do with it. Same with the full time 4WD. I’d rather have it selectable with a full time option then always in 4WD where 99% of the time it isn’t needed and just wasting energy.
Toyota seems to be making decisions lately just for marketing purposes rather than what their buyers actually need and want.

    Just do some real math.
    100 miles \ 19 mpg x $3.10 equals $16.32 for the 4Runner
    100 miles \ 23 mpg x $3.90 equals $16.96 for the LC
The cost per mile is pretty similar but the LC actually costs a little more due to the high price of premium fuel.

Yeah, that's what it sounds like, it's hard to tell how much protection those little plates offer.

I’m sure Toyota put them there for a reason. It’s probably not the greatest idea to remove something that’s considered a “safety plate” or whatever they call it.

Honestly, unless you're logging 50K+ miles every year, I really don't see what the huge deal is about having to use Premium. It's a few bucks more each fill up. My Infiniti required it, several of my old BMWs required it, and my recent CX-9....although it was not required, using it bumped up the horsepower by 25. So I used it.

This is the LC model that caught my eye. My wife's 2015 Lexus NX motor is the predecessor to the 2.4 liter turbo mill you now have, and it's a great engine. Can only imagine what it's like in bigger displacement form along with the bump from the electric motor. Look forward to hearing more about your new ride.

    Enjoy!

I sat in a first edition today. Really felt nice. I was also impressed by the longer cargo area, since the bottom of the back seat doesn't fold forward, it appears you can easily get 6 and a half feet of length, given you still need to level out the hump at the folded down seat.

So far they have had grille shutter issues that caused a shipping hold and now people are having transmission issues.

Leaps and bound? I'm not so sure about that. I owned a 2016 4Runner TRD Pro for 5 years and have owned a 24 4Runner TRD Pro since December 23. And I also daily drive a 2020 Prado, it is absolutely no where near "leaps and bound" compared to either of my 4Runners. What stands out about my 150 Prado is that it feels a bit more planted on the highway and that full time 4x4 is awesome in the desert! I honestly prefer my 4Runners over the Prado (last gen). I sure would like to drive this new 250 and see how it feels compared to the old one.

I just passed the 1,500 mile mark after a recent trip to Salida, CO and surrounding area. This little 4 banger is super fun to drive. The amount of torque and instant power when pushing the gas is night and day difference to the 5th gen. I can easily pass people, no matter if its incline or decline, 2-lane or single lane. Such a joy to have that confidence to pass if need to. Gas tank is tiny compared to other SUVs of this size. I am only getting a little over 300 miles a tank while averaging 25 mpg. This is my only complaint against the new LC 250. Im assuming because of the hybrid engine/battery setup, reduces a lot undercarriage space for a gas tank.

Here are some poser pics from my camping spot outside Hartsel, CO. I was camping in a remote spot with little artificial light so I could do some astrophotography but to my luck, both nights had quite a bit of cloudy skies until like 2am (I am not staying up that late).

Torque availability- Our Subaru ascent, with a turbo 4 banger (WRX engine) has the same feeling of ease driving around town and in the mountains. Driving it is very low effort, compare to my 4Runner.

however I rarely find the 4R’s relative weak power to be a show stopper. I just plan a bit, and use the S mode.. no big deal. (I never tow though)

what I find extremely convenient and valuable in my 4R - the MTM system’s auto mode, which turns on front and bird eye view, when the vehicle travels under a certain speed ( like pulling into a parking spot). This makes daily driving extremely convenient. The Ascent has an extremely high resolution 360 camera, but it doesn’t have an auto mode. So it’s high friction to use - manually turn on/off, via center console mounted button.

the LC 1958 trim stupidly does not even have the MTM as an option.. huge miss on a highly useful feature. Would not consider this trim simply due to the lack of MTM
