That’s cool. Just reinforcing that no one is referring the 250 as the pinnacle LC design.. it’s fugly

Maybe not, but it certainly isn't "fugly." Then again, that's how you seem to describe every newer model, so maybe it doesn't mean anything.

It's an artist's render. It's supposed to match the Tacoma from B-pillar forward, which means more raked windshield closer to the 4th gen 4Runner than the 5th gen. This is already confirmed via earlier spy shots from Feb.

Yeah sat in a new gen taco today… definitely prefer the 5th 4Runner’s more upright rake.

the taco’s more slopped rake makes it feel more car-ish.. same feeling I got from the gx460, when cross shopping it against the 5th gen 4r

I dont understand, everyone and I mean everyone says the new Taco seating position has been fixed and it's not like a car anymore.

the windshield rake is much more slopped than the 5G 4R.

I own a 100 series, and work on all LC series at work. I'm a mechanic at a LC specialist shop. Have replaced several 80 series engines, service them often.

For longevity, cost effectiveness, driveability the 100 series bests the 80 series all day.

For off road prowess and a cool interior the 80 series wins hands down. I'll take my luxury off road beast of a 100 series any day. 80's always need a bunch of very expensive work to keep up. Plus no one wants to work on them.

So? I like the interior on the LC/GX, the Tacoma looks janky, *to me*.

I haven't driven a Bronco, I am just going off whats in the sales literature - listing an automatic mode for 2H/4H switching. I know some American pickups have had such automatic modes in the past as well.

The land Rover - I did drive one of the current gen Defenders at one of those land rover driving school events (fun way to spend an hour BTW). It does have an auto mode and when you are in 4low you get this cool drivetrain diagram up on the giant screen that shows in real time which of the 3 diffs is locking up (which all happens as the computer detects slip without any driver input). I suspect you are right that its not going to use a servo actuated version of a traditional transfer case like the 4R... probably something like torsen diffs with electrical lockup clutches or similar.

There is always a chance that they may want to compete with this and implement a variation of the Limited/GX drivetrain with a full time center torsen diff with electronic lockup mode, that would let them run it fully auto. I don't think we have seen any teasers of the inside showing a tcase lever have we?

Like all of you I am just speculating of course. I have no inside info.

The entire discussion with @Yobruhitsme was about asthetics, looks, not reliability. But good to know! Wouldn't keep me from buying a 80 series, since if I ever did it would be a strictly a hobby vehicle.

This is interesting. I've always thought that the 80's were pretty bulletproof.

Is it the FZ I6 motors that are problematic?

I love the look of the 100 series, but never considered one for an off-road build platform. I used to think they were too big, but now it seems like the 4Runner could end up being the same size, or bigger. I also had the 4.7 in my last 4Runner, and would trade the 1GR for one in a heartbeat.

Green, or maybe gray. Could be the "Underground" color.

Mine can appear green sometimes when it's in the woods. Picture included for reference.

    Calm down!
The interiors of the Tacoma are 'janky' compared to those two because it's an inferior product. I am not sure what we are trying to clarify here.

Looks like same door panel design as the new Tacoma

Lol I had same reaction. They literally copy/pasted the 4Runner from the Tacoma.

At least it seems that way so far. Lol
