Gee, it almost looks like they started with the pickup, and made the 4Runner from that.

    Lol

It's funny. There have been rumors that the 4Runner and Tacoma were going to look the same for awhile now. And, now that it appears to be true, some folks seem surprised.
Haha! Almost! It's almost as if it started with a hilux conversion made by Winnebago. ;)

Trailhunter is above or below the PRO?

The current BRO is already $55K base msrp. I assume that puts the Trailhunter around $58-60K MSRP, plus options and dealer gouging.

We can once again thank everyone who stood in line to pay ridiculous mark-ups during the pandemic for how expensive everything has gotten.

Thanks! This means I'll stand by my guess.

    Well, yeah. :D

As silly as it might seem from a financial perspective, I don't see anything terrible wrong with it. People spend all kinds of money on unnecessary things. At least I am getting something material and some experience out of my fun money.

Yeah, I think the Trailhunter is marketed above the Pro. I'm not a fan of the corporate profit-taking, looking at the option upsells on the Tacoma has me guessing the out-the-door price on most 4R's is going to be a lot more than base price. Only time will tell who can or will pay those prices.

Me either, as long as you can afford it. People buy too much car for what they bring in and that's when it becomes a problem.

But that being said, I do plan on getting one eventually, because like you, I'm here for a good time not for a long time. :p

    For Tacoma

TRD Pro and Trailhunter models aren't even listed in the 'build' area of the website yet.

But they do have pages for them

    https://www.toyota.com/trucks/trd-pro-series/

    https://www.toyota.com/trucks/trailhunter/

    TRD Pro comes with
    • Fox tuned shocks
    • TRD black rims
    • Aggressive AT tires
    • TRD skid plates

    Trailhunter comes with
    • Old Man Emu suspension
    • 33" tires on 18" rims
    • ARB steal rear bumper
    • ARB tow hooks
    • Skid plates
    • Rock rails

I kinda have to admit, I have "nose in the air" attitude when I see tacomas. A 5th gen looks way better than 3gen taco. I'd be little disappointed if new 4R looked like new taco.

I think they still do. I think we just tend to like vehicles from a certain era.

The new 86 is gorgeous, IMO. It's hit and miss, but some of the sedans and crossovers are very good looking.

But, I still love the look of a lot of late 70's - 80's vehicles.

Safety doesnt help. Crumple zones and room for curtain airbags bloat the lines.

Noticed the handle on the Tacoma looks like a mini version of the badging plate on the back of the new 4Runner.

    You got older :p

For the longest time Toyota has been accused of being too bland and boring in exterior styling, so this is an attempt at appealing to younger buyers. Bland-looking 4Runners don't sell. The 4th gen sold poorly and was reskinned after just 6 years. The 5th gen sold poorly until Toyota give it the predator-mouth grille in 2014, then sales took off.
