Its a fine spot for overlanding. But don't be the head of the pack at far distances.

Its also a great antenna, love mine.

so there’s how mine breaks down…just didn’t know if I had to use the toothclamp or spacer for “technical” reasons

should I sand the top/inner/bottom of ditch bracket so ALL brass has contact?

Looks good. That antenna doesn't really need a ground plane and using the powder coted mount is just fine. Though i will note the same possible limitations with range to the rear of the vehicle. Just fine for overlanding.

Soooo don’t sand n eventually move it to the rear…check
Eventually would put it higher? Maybe on a rotating/folding mount? Also the idea of 3db/different antenna…
I kinda threw it together cause I was supposed to go off-roading but the trip kinda fell apart…thus, with the free time…finish projects so next time I’m all set

    Appreciate it people

Most ideal on a 4Runner is higher on the roof for well balanced range with a good ground plane and you can swap for a longer higher DB antenna when needed. But the ghost antenna is really good for off roading on hilly areas. I bring a longer/higher DB antenna for long range for on top of hill or more flat surfaces.

    "at far distances"

Ghost antenna is a great little antenna but doesn't have the long range, add a windshield and rear cargo area blocking the signal your not going to get 5+ mi range. But still good in small groups for off roading no matter where you put it.

Fair enough. Last time I pushed the limit on it we were in a canyon spread out by about 4-6 miles. It didn’t give me any trouble so my buddy and I agreed it was good to go.

Still picks up when my handheld won’t. Still transmits with no trouble as well. I think for 99% of users this setup works fine... Even with it being mounted in a less than ideal position.

The ghost antenna actually outperforms many larger antenna's though. So I'm not sure about your statement about it not having long range.
