No doubt. I completely understand it. Same reason I wanted to get my wife in a 4Runner. Some girls are a bit more down to earth and have more common sense than others. you are quite obviously one of those. My wife is not. Love her to death but there's some things she can't live without. I understand the power lift gate for her completely. I was just hoping she would learn to live without it. Typically don't keep a vehicle past 100k anyways so I'm sure the Durango will make it that far.

CVT was so annoying. The infotainment sucked. It’s should take 5 presses of the screen to turn on my heated seats.

My last car before the 4R was a 3.6R Outback ('15). I grew accustomed to the many oddities such as the sucky infotainment system, fourteen different lighting colors on the dash, wonky automatic rear gate, etc.

I grew to really like the CVT which was unexpected given that I have nine motorcycle and an antique truck all with manual shifting.

What I didn't like was getting new CV axles twice and a new transmission over the course of ownership.

That's what led me to get the 4R. The Outback was paid off and I liked it . . . but didn't want to own that car outside of warranty given all the camping and towing we do. New transmission for $8K? No thank you.

The five speed in the 4R is annoying for towing and fuel economy but I'm happy it's a simple and dependable system which is what I was after.

I'm getting to the point that I just don't care what people buy for their wives. I'm sure a shitbox Kia has an automatic tailgate. I hear Dodge / Fiat finally figured out how to make a reliable transmission after 20 years of putting out absolute crap!!! No way would I ever buy a Durango.

My SO has had a different car, every year for the past 4 years. I just recently traded our 2020 Rav4 TRD OR in on a 2021 Highlander XSE. I'm not going to go join a Highlander forum. What are we going to discuss - glove box organization?

Well the Durango has landed. Wife is happy and that's all that matters. On a side note Walsers In Hopkins MN has a 22 Lime Rush with 600 miles on it. 70K.

The key is marry your best friend. Once you do, you wont see life without her.

Sure there are some pains here and there (and a few times a year you will want to hang yourself in the shower) but im sure its mutual. Ill take three or four really sucky days for 359 fantastic days. No regrets.

EDIT: Also, dual income makes it easier for more mods :spending::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead::bananadead:

Different strokes for different folks the issue was I got her what I wanted not what she wanted. I loved the simplicity of the forerunner she did not the one thing I will definitely agree with her on those the gas mileage is absolutely terrible for a small vehicle I think if it actually came with a V-8 and a six speed or an eight speed it might actually get quite a bit better mileage but that’s OK we all love them for the reliability.

In the end its her vehicle no? Respect for letting her choose her destiny. I know some men that will push a Chinese Bicycle on their wives cause they are cheap insensitive invertebrates. Some women would be privileged to have a Runner pushed on them.

Happy wife happy life and all that.
I like that Putty Gray color available for the Durango. Not a fan of green.

I keep seeing Durangos on the highway at night thinking they are State Troopers. They usually aren't.
Same with Ford Exploders. I don't really speed much - 4 to 9 over - so it's not been an issue.

Yeah destroyer gray doesn't look great on the Durangos in my opinion. We really like the green. It's a sweet color.

Does she like visiting the service department at the Chrysler dealership on a monthly basis lol?

In all seriousness, I get where she's coming from though. I never understood why Tacomas and 4runners held their values so well when the technology in them are so old the power train is so underpowered, but here I am lol, just bought my first Tacoma last year and trading it in for a 4runner to have more room for the family. It was a huge adjustment for me to get used to some of the things that suck with the 4runner but now that I have a longer commute, resale value and reliability were more important than the other things. Nobody will ever make the perfect car that checks every single box.

some of the easy tech things toyotas don't have boggle my mind. especially remote start. yeah we got a full warranty for 8 years. haha. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I'd take a tacoma in a heartbeat. Always wanted one of those. Unfortunately they are too small for my needs. When I retire and if I'm not pulling big shit etc I'll get one again. Maybe just keep the power wagon and buy a tacoma too.

Hell, I considered a Durango. When you're comparing a Toyota 4.0 to a Hemi V8, it's easy to be tempted.

Yeah I oddly never had a complaint with the power quite so much. I mean it was slow and the constant shifting on even light grades blew but you had ti know what you were getting yourself into. I did. Didn't bother me except for the shifting. The gas mileage was terrible though. on the highway and in town. I knew it would be bad but we got 75 miles to a tank in town. Granted our drives are short and some idling because of winter but geesh.

That Durango looks pretty sweet! A durango and a 4runner do have something in common…they both bave been in production forever!

my wife is on the other end of the spectrum.

Still waiting for my allocation to hit the dealership and she's already talking about stealing the 4runner from me...

Sometimes I envy OP. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side.

Buy a power wagon. Makes your stolen 4 runner look like a toy. Haha. Saw a lifted 1992 Tacoma today that was sweeet though. Love those things.

May be have identical 4Runners so there's no problem. Plus you have a peace of mind vs having your love ones with an FCA product.

Did you have a leak? 75 mile to a tank, if that’s due to idling than wow.
