Yeah it’s really odd. Toyota is like Honda though. The atv market at least. They stick with what works. I do respect that .

It’s just me but for $50k plus I would find a work around. The FCA residual values are so awful. Heck I have family that works for them and won’t even buy them unless it’s a company lease car at a ridiculous deal. But any car should last a year

Yeah this decision isn’t rational. Haha. But my power wagon holds its value. So do most jeeps.

We can't hate on the op, at the end of the day some people (I don't want to say women since there are very knowledgeable women) don't give a priority to reliability (I guess that's why domestics still sell a lot). 4runner is not for everyone good luck op and hope you fare well with both your new future vehicles

Agreed. If OP were to tell his wife he has a fix for the 4Runner, she'll begin to tell him all the other reasons she doesn't like it. Her heart is set on something different.
Like many others here, I wish them good luck.
Not a trade I would look forward to.
Approaching 85K on mine and drives better than the day I bought it new.

reliability is exactly why my GF got a CRV. yeah, its ugly, gutless and boring. but it does just what she wanted it to do.

she's been down the "fun" road before. had a wrangler for about 10 years. but she gave me a lot of crap when i traded in my 2001 4Runner. said she would have loved to have it. i didn't know she liked it that much or i would have just given it to her. then she went out and bought the CRV. 92,000 miles later its still spinning like a top.

further, way back then i also had a 3000GT VR-4. that was the real fun car, for everyone except my wallet. ha ha ha

Yeah the Rubicons do well. FCA sprinkles fairy dust on the Jeeps I swear. Most of them are pretty reliable for the most part. I'll do what I can to get the most miles out of these two rigs. Best truck I've ever owned was my 2004 Dakota. Great little truck. Had to sell it because it was an extended cab and I had kids otherwise I'd still be driving it.

I have all the speakers and the sub. Keep in mind I have a third row so it's that sub. No dedicated sub amp. The reference 500 I guess.

Probably 1400 shipped maybe more maybe less depending on location of the buyer. This stuff was heavy and bulky.

My wife loves the Durango as well. We have had 3 and they have been mostly trouble free (1 alternator, 2 wheel bearings) but we never kept them beyond 125k.

I'm pretty sure one 4runner would have held up well over that time, but people love what they love.

Wha? What is unreliable about a 4Runner?

Nothing. I just wanted her in something with very little history of problems. Her wants outweighed mine. Haha

sometimes you gotta just let the wife have what she wants lol. the R/Ts look pretty bad ass, i personally would not get one myself but they are nice to look at.

i'm assuming the highlander was out of the question due to lack of power?

no it wasn't. she would have wanted the XSE but hated the interior. I was inclined to agree. If they had just plain black leather we'd probably be driving one of those. Only reason we went with an R/T again was because the gas mileage difference was minimal compared to the V6. Also the R/T has the cooled seats and red stitching she likes.

Stay away from the V6 in the Durango. Dodge still hasn't fixed the roller follower issue that popped up around 2012 in that engine. My wife has been driving a 2018 since new and the damn engine started the loud tapping at startup on the passenger side. Diagnosis was a bad follower, mega bucks to fix. We traded it in on a new Highlander - the Toyota dealer was made ware of the issue and said it was no problem for the service dept to fix it before going on the lot. After reading up on this issue it seems to be problem with a lot of folks out there.

Other than the follower issue her Durango was a great car.

yeah I've heard that about the v6. Hopefully since we will be the first owner we can maintain this one well and avoid any unnecessary issues. I'll probably put a catch can on it as quick as I can. Problem with living up north though is that they fill up really fast with condensation because of the cold.

Well, sorry to hear that, but I know that story all too well. The 4R was a compromise for us, and now my wife loves it. I ended up going out and getting myself a flat-fendered Jeep. Now we're all happy.
