Just having a little fun. Here's the whole story.

The entire round 198 miles in total yielded exactly 22MPG(same route both ways) hand calculated 198 miles w/9 gallons of fuel consumed.

The reason it did so well coming home? Huge tail wind - like 25+MPH.

Nannies? I didn't notice any posts here complaining about it.

I drive slow when I'm not in a hurry, and I drive fast when I am.

I have 8 gas stations within 9 miles. Don’t go to any of them. I think many are trying to sell E20-85. But yet you will find a station (Costco has good fuel) that always delivers good performance.. usually it’s in a higher taxed area..

Around here the waiting line at COSTCO's fuel station is insane.

Yeah, that’s how mine were in the Bay Area until some of them doubled the number of pumps recently. Now it’s pretty quick to get a pump, even at the busiest times. Not only is it cheaper but it’s top tier and they advertise their detergent additives are 5x what the EPA requires.
When traveling long distance my wife maps out the Costco gas stations along our route, and that’s where we gas up and take a break, whenever possible.

Costco in Abq is consistently the least costly station in town. I, however, refuse to sit in line waiting to save 2 cents per gallon.

Back to the original question - I used to have a Shell credit card, and would use it periodically. Shell, on the other hand, thought I didn't use it enough and canceled my card. Haven't used Shell since.

We started using Costco for gas because they are generally .80 per gallon cheaper than anyone else.

If our Costco was .80 per gallon less, I would wait in line.

I don’t know about other states, but in CA the cost of gasoline is crazy. Its cost varies widely depending on the location, competition, and major brand names. For example, today my local Costco gas is $3.56/gal regular. A Shell station less than a mile away is $4.25.

I made the stupid mistake of needing gas when passing through Needles, CA. I made the comment to my much younger girlfriend that we were stopping in the stomping grounds of Snoopy's brother, Spike. She didn't get it...

Gas was insanely priced at $4.69 a gallon. I also realized that I was still carrying a concealed Sig P365 with a 12-round magazine on my person, had 300 rounds of reloaded ammo, and an Extar EP-9 submachine gun with a Glock 33-round magazine inserted in a suitcase in the back. I was a rolling felony in CA. Went from being a red-blooded combat-decorated American hero to a disgusting scumbag felon simply by crossing the border into Commiefornia. God, I hate California...

Thank you for your service to this country, much respect.
I was under the impression that the requirement for transporting guns in CA was for them to be unloaded and in a locked container or in the trunk. So maybe a suitcase would qualify if it was a hard case and locked.

BTW, love the Peanuts story. That’s from way back in the strip.

Our 87 octane gas is running $2.65 to 2.78 per gallon. I normally fill up the 4Runner at Shell station a few blocks from us. I also run a bottle of Seafood through every 6 months. I only fill up our Shelby with 93 octane BP. I don't care how much it costs per gallon for the GT500. It is NOT eco-friendly, nor is it a gas sipping Prius. Thankfully.

I'd say you were locked and loaded......;)

Did ya know Snoopy lives in the desert too? Well, he kinda has - since 1968.

    https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/b-58a-snoopy-on-edwards-afb-photo-test-range/view/google/

A handful of us laid PSP landing mat one after the other(like airplane recovery boards - lol) on the desert floor and towed him there.

I've only started buying "better" brand gasolines Shell, Mobil, Sunoco, etc... No clue if it's better or not but I feel a little better doing it so that's good enough for me. One thing I do wonder about is when I drive by a shell for instance and there's a "no name" truck making a delivery. I remember years ago when Mobil got fill-ups from Mobil trucks and so-on.

I know California is a beautiful state, but I would lose my mind if fuel was that expensive here... Of course, it could be in a few months or years.

This thing doesn’t care what you put in it. I ran it on 85 octane Colorado gas for years with no problems.

The other nice thing about Costco gas is if you use your Costco (Citi) credit card to pay for it, you get an extra 4% off as a cash-back reward. I always enjoy that first week of February when I get a voucher for @ $600 just from using the card for normal everyday purchases. It'll be even bigger next year after all my 4Runner mods :)
