Thanks again for the recommendation to Stellar Built. I was in and out in under 2 hours and got to walk around the floor and they showed me some sweeeeeeeeet projects.

 

Yeah, it was a sh*tshow that taught me a thing or two. I'll do a longer writeup so we can all learn from our mistakes. But I did enjoy camping there. I've never been out in the middle of Lake Valley reservoir on a frozen night. Such a sublime experience.

 

I am starting research for a Death Valley trip. Looking at mistakes others have made so that I can learn from that instead of make them myself.

 

Do you have a rough idea where you're going? I've been going off the beaten path there since the late 80's and can hook you up with some unique places. I may return this year as well, because it's been a while, and I have long list of new sites to seek out.

The most common mistake in the DV area is overlooking just how long the distances are, and how much time it takes to get anywhere. Budget extra time and bring extra gas just in case. March is about the end of the season, because April does get some really hot days.

 

I have NO idea where we are going at all... Just starting to look into it. We were thinking mid March. After the really cold but before the crazy hot hopefully

 

Did a quick trip to Yosemite on Thursday afternoon. Wanted to see the snow covered park with nobody around. It was a great day.



















Got out of there just as the evening blizzard was supposed to start. Snowing like crazy when passing through the park exit on CA 140 at Arch Rock entrance.

Hi, from Natomas. Anyone know anyone that has the Magnuson charger installed? I hear its not California approved/friendly yet.

 

It is CARB compliant however you will want to verify it prior to ordering for your specific year (just to make sure). The documentation on it I found was approved in 2016 so later models are obviously not on it. They should be because they were a factory TRD option years ago if I am not mistaken. I have installed one on a 2018 4Runner (not mine). It is not a hard install however you need a computer guy to correct the tune.

 

Yeah, I spoke to Magnuson sales rep last year and she told me the newer Gen 5's weren't approved in California. I was surprised for the same reason since it was a factory TRD option not that long ago. How did the 2018 4Runner ride after the install? Do you think its worth the 7k? I sure like to test drive one.

 

This is a long shot, looking to swap my 2021 classic silver flat hood for a scooped hood. Mine is in great shape, like new, garaged daily and located in Natomas.

 

Wow the 80s! I bet you’ve got some awesome stories and know some really cool off the beaten path spots. We’ve been going every year for about 6 years- so much to explore! We normally go in April, I’ve been checking road conditions lately. Seems like lots of things are closed at the moment.

 

Yes, the back country is AFU right now. The basins aren't the problem, so much as getting over the summits into them.

Here's Piston Point, a petroglyph site along Steele Pass. And a 4runner, overheating due to blown head gasket.

Anyone with a lighter colored SR5 wanna come over and choose a free set of pillar decals? I need to put all of them on and take some better pictures than the ones I got.

 

Just dropped mine off at my mechanic and had a silver stock TE right behind me on a side road. Tripped me out! It was like a before and after driving!

Might be a stupid question but anyone willing to install my lift kit for me around south sac area. Got a couple quote from local store and out of my range. If you got a good price for installation I’ll pay with cash

@4RunnerGuy916, what lift is it etc? PM me. I will give you a quote. I typically charge $200 a corner for the front and $80 a corner for the rear. Some lifts are more, some are less. Are you doing control arms etc? PM me details and we will see if we can work it out.

 

Got up into the mountains and did some climbing. The camera we took is about as good as a potato but better than nothing I guess haha.

Anyone in here have any experience with the Bald Mtn trail near Shaver Lake, east of Fresno?

 

We got up to the mountains again and did some climbing


Since Jan 1st, we have only been home 5 weekends and 2 were because the wifes wisdom teeth were taken out haha

 

Still a ton of snow in the back country. Here's about 5500' elevation, Foresthill Divide. Main roads are mostly plowed, but dirt is not. They're probably going to have to cancel the Tevis Cup this year.

 

So I did a thing!.... Got sick of the 4Runner and got a real off road vehicle!


Just kidding .. the 4Runner is just fine and about to get bumpers and a fridge.... This jeep just barely has paint to scratch and has been in our family since '89 so now I am fixing it for those trails that hurt my soul with our runner
