Blacked out grill and rear emblem. More on the way!
I believe you misinterpreted my comment. I wasn't implying that it's not the dealerships responsibility.

There's no way on earth if they plugged in the VIN those running boards would have 'spit out' of the computer. And, it's not just the parts guy who sold the running boards - the installer should have known as soon as he pulled them out of the box they wouldn't work, much less tried to install them on the wrong vehicle than they are designed for (at least with those brackets). To top it off, the 'main service boss' said those were the only choice, and not refundable. Even if it was your first day on the job, working for a Toyota dealership, and you tried to install those, you'd think "That looks like crap! That can't be right..."

Yeah, no one ever just follows orders. Even if they know better

Parts desk should make you aware that the part per VIN is not matching but they don't have to. I've several parts that are for later models of 5th gen and "not compatible" per VIN search but I know fit perfectly because I installed them i.e. 2016 Toyota Led Tail Lights,2017 Rear console panel with Charging ports and 2019 Black TRD shift knob all were not available in 2013 for Trail Edition. You just have to do your research. Mistakes sometimes still made. Be firm but not angry about your concerns and ask them to make things right.
