    It's low profile so I think you could. I don't use the auto brush car washes. I believe most car washes have a disclaimer any damage caused to equipment is your responsibility.

    Some say they do (most with the top brushes shut off for them, whatever that means) but I would personally not risk it. I've done the diy bays anytime I've cleaned it not at home since putting it on.

    Does this make it a pita to clean the roof? I really like the idea of the grates but I don't want to take them off the clean the car.

    I have not removed them since install. When washing it at home I hand wash the rack grates. Roof seems to stay pretty clean.
