I saw a picture that was a double Hulk Hogan mustache. And that is exactly what the grille looks like. Ruined it for me

I am trading in my rig for the new Lexus. Just need to get my woman onboard.

 

I will have TOYOTA letters on the grill, I will keep you guys posted. Just dropped a deposit on one and it will be one long wait. 4Runner and Grand Cherokee will be gone, and my Ram 2500 and this bad boy Lexus will be my only vehicles. Hopefully a TJ comes home soon too.

 

I don’t care how it looks. But the motor options and that annoyingly big screen are a major turn off.

NA motor or a diesel and I would be singing a different tune, even if it was the dog 3.5 motor from the 3rd gen Tacoma.

no manual option.

why not a low tech package? I’d be fine with hand crank windows.

def don’t like anything with the Toyota saftey sense nonsense.

Wow… you guys are so busy #*$$*#. I wonder when you drive your 4Runners? Last week I woke up 10 pages and bans one morning. Now I Just came back from a weekend camping (Boy Scout adult leader training) to 20 alerts..l probably all telling me what an idiot I am.

no time to reply to all the complainers as I have a busy week of work and then next weekend it’s off to the woods again, going to one of those Overland Experts 4x4 training classes.. Anyway it’s starting to get old reading people who obviously never took a physics course say “you can’t X, it’s physics” it stopped being funny to 10 pages ago….

 

I guess I only put 350 miles on mine this weekend, so kind of a slow weekend.

You missed out on some very insightful posts. Some of which suggested that folks who care about fuel economy should buy a Prius, or other variations of this very original idea that has never come up on these forums before.

It's been quite amusing seeing how upset some folks are about something we've known was happening for so long already.

Yeah I'm catching up on them all between meetings. Very nicely preserved 1990 4Runner was shown in the 5v6 thread... Such a shame really... its only 4 cycliners... probably wont last another 270k, you know how bad 4 cylinders is

 

It's funny how N/A 4 bangers that you have to beat the shit out of can last forever, but a boosted 4 making modest power will not last.

I guess I don't get all these assumptions that the 4cyl will not be reliable. Toyota has been building 4 cyl hybrids for a minute now. 465lb @ 1700RPM vs 278lb @ 4500 on mine? Yeah I'll take that 4cyl

Has anyone else’s trade in values gone up? Since the release on 4/9/24 my KBB has gone up $1,200 now.. coincidence?

On FB groups I've read where others 5th gens have gone up more than that since the release. I knew this would happen. I'm just waiting for all the new 5th gens to get scooped up.....soon.

 

I think you may be right.... I'm an amateur finance nerd and I keep a spreadsheet and track everything quarterly including the KBB trade value of the cars. For my 2023 Pro I noted it calculating 49k in January, and just now ran the tool and it calculates 50.2k. The same 1200 as you!


The really amazing thing is the private party sale number it gives me is basically what I pad for it new. If I could actually get that its almost begging me to trade up to a Land Cruiser

 

Are you not afraid of private party sale? Last private party sale I did was for a ~5K vehicle and to meet someone, take them to local bank for cashier's check was a little unsettling. I can not imagine doing this for 50K+!

haha... yeah I probably wouldnt private party in reality + MA gives a sales tax credit on the trade which usually closes most of the gap. Just daydreaming out loud, and a bit amazed by the values. But maybe I shouldn't be, as I traded my 9 year old Tacoma for about 70% of what I bought that also.

Why not? Obviously, use common sense and don't go along with sketchy people. You can always walk away for any reason, there is no customer service obligations in such transactions. I heard that some police stations have 'online transactions' meetup areas right outside the station.

For both 5K and 50K there is a risk of financial fraud, if you take reasonable precautions it could be safe. I never traded in a car, as I take care of my cars I always can get significantly more in a private sale. I always insist we go to buyer's bank so I can see them getting a cashier's check from a teller, so there is almost zero chance of fraud.
