I bought a Bronco Raqptor from Military Auto Sales for MSRP overseas (delivered to my local dealer). When I got it, I saw the complexity and read how there were already a lot of issues and mine was a first year run too. I sold it to my local dealer very shortly after I got it. Then I got my 4Runner the next year.

If I buy the new GX, I'm not going to give a s*** about the warranty, I'll go to some of the best mechanics to try to get the Tundra power out of it. Toyota has played some trick with the turbocharger.

By on-board (and off-line), I mean the vehicle comes with usable gps moving map that does not rely on your cell phone to produce the map and does not rely on a subscription service. For example, on my 21 4runner, I can leave my phone at home, and have full gps nav through my head unit, and I’m not paying any subscription to toyota.

Current Highlander XLEs do not include this feature anymore (which came standard with my 2018 Highlander XLE). Same for the 6th gen 4runner. You’ll need a cell signal (or download a bunch of maps to your phone if you want to use google maps without a cell signal).

    Good: no. But, maybe better.

Adding a bunch of weight and roof racks definitely won't help.

I haven't seen any real world mileage from the GX yet. 1 MPG does seem a little disappointing.

The Tundra is averaging about 20% better based on fuelly.com.

Wait for some cool aftermarket goodies for that Lexus beauty. It would look sick with 35/12.50/R17s and steel bumpers. Wheeling in luxury

A good tuner should be able to help. I'm sure there will be plenty of tuning options in a few years.

    I don't see a problem here. :D

As we age...sleeping on whatever gets harder to do. Or we just have more money.

Not if you fit a real mattress in there :)
It is not about money, sometimes you are too exhausted to drive back to the hotel.

To be fair, I'm not exactly roughing it these days.

    Well hells bells...that works too.

I tried sleeping in the bed of my GMC 3500, with an air mattress (after disconnecting the gooseneck). For some damn reason we always get caught out in the damn snow when doing this.

    IMG_8758.png

My Tundra only had the 5.5' bed and that sucked. The 6'+ bed is more better.

Full mattress in the back is this truck's big edge against the competition.

Most the time we just back the toys off and crash on the deck of the trailers.

I need to keep everyone buzzed so that they'll put up with my BS. We have a lot of fun on the Wisconsin outings. It's made pissing away all of my money on mods and gas (and booze) well worth it.

We have a few decent trails, if you can find them. There's also a nice off-road park, with good camping. We usually hit the trails all day and then drink and BS around a fire. We have a good group of regulars. We had 14 vehicles on last Saturday's trail run.

Some of the hardest kick you in the uprights trails I have ever done are almost invisible to the eye unless someone knows they are there.

Sounds like a good group of people.
My group has fallen off a bit. Towing rigs for hundreds of miles gets costly and time consuming. Been looking at different options and still being capable, but still street worthy. Even looked at some LC 70 series.

Well, prices have changed since 1996 a bit....:(

Afford them just like everything else. See what you want and make a plan to get it. I wanted my diesel but had to save up for two years to pay for it. When I did....it was the best feeling.

I just want a cheaper model with 4WD for the boat ramp and slap some Limited rims on it. Trail Hunter rims are awesome by the way reminds me of the Kyosho Burn's wherls.

Yeah, the best stuff seems to be the little side trails and obstacles sometimes. We don't have a lot of super difficult stuff, but plenty of opportunities to get hung up or break stuff if you're inclined to do so.

Maybe the 6th gen will be a good fit for you. It doesn't look super impressive stock. But, there might be some good potential there.

If you ever go off the deep end and decide to visit Wisconsin, feel free to crash one of our parties. We have a few things in the works for this summer and fall already.
