Good luck with the KO2's. I wouldn't recommend those if you live anywhere that has rain. It just isn't worth your life.

well too late for that decision. Based on a lot of feedback, I went with the KO2’s. What happens in rain?

Live and learn. I’ve never dealt with dealerships, other than to avoid them for purchasing a vehicle.

Just look at the tire design. No siphoning for water. Hence, they are a slip n slide in the water.

I wonder with all these poor performance of KO2 as people complain why manufactures use BFG KO2 on their top end / faster trims like F150 Raptor & Raptor R , Wrangler Rubicon 393 xtreme recon or regular Rubicon xtreme , Bronco Raptor.

They get pushed pretty hard at dealerships and tire places from what I hear. They likely get rebates for them. It is still a good tire, but better options exist. The reason the 4runner comes with Bridgestones is probably because the factory that makes them is also in Japan. I don't know that for a fact, but it would make a lot of sense economically.

None of my 4Runners came with Bridgestone. :D

I had Dunlop Grantrek AT20, Yokohama Geolander & Nitto Terra Grappler.

KO2 was recommended to me and I actually went on this very forum and asked for advice about them and other tires. Please see above posts. All the feedback was positive about the KO2. Time will tell.

You should've done the work yourself and Googled tire design. You need lateral channels to prevent hydroplaning. K02's get recommended a lot, most likely because it seems like everyone who sells them gets rebates to sell them. Any tire place will recommend that tire as their first choice for an A/T. Call some places and ask. It doesn't mean it is the best, just that is benefits whoever is selling it the most. You are sacrificing a little grip for all of your wet performance. Everyone here is literally just regurgitating the "because that was what I was told". The best bang-for-buck AT really is the Falken Wildpeaks, they still maintain lateral channels. Tires like the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and Nitto Ridge Grapplers even still try to maintain a lateral channel, but K02's forget about it. If the vehicle is a toy and you don't drive it in the rain, K02's work. But then I would counter with "Why not M/T's"?

I am done posting here as I am not getting through.

I have positive comments about KO2 as well. After few other tires I've tried I really like KO2 especially for the trails here in CO.

Again, its just my preferred choice. Everyone have different taste. Many love Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I have a set on my Limited probably have 6000 or 7000 miles on them and I'm happy to sell to anyone if I get good money. I'm not a fan of them.

I had Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac and Nitto Terra Grappler on my TRD Pro and they got changed/ sold pretty early as I didn't like them.

I never had a problem with rain with my Ko2. Around 40k I did notice reduced traction when starting from a stop on wet roads. There are at tires out there with better wet traction. But if you don’t drive like you’re on a racetrack and know how your tires handle you’re fine.

I haven't driven KO2s but think All Terrain tires are typically not great in the rain. I've noticed that on my Pirelli Scorpion ATs. No scary events yet, but definitely slip a bit around corners in the wet if you're not easy on the throttle.

I've done tens of thousands of miles on UHP summer tires like the Pilot Super Sport, so I'm probably spoiled in this regard. Though I'd note that even the Bridgestone Duelers that came on my 4R Limited (worst tires EVER in snow) never slipped on me in the rain, and that was with about 17K miles of use.

I don’t understand why you’re saying I should’ve done the work myself. I did the research. I spoke to 4Runner owners and watched YouTube videos and asked on this forum about the best tires for mostly urban/suburban driving in the mid-Atlantic. I’ve spoken to no one who sells tires. So I bought the KO2’s and they’re on my truck. I do appreciate your input aside from the slightly patronizing tone. Yes, this is my first 4Runner. I’m learning. I’m not an expert.

    They’re the OEM sizes — 245/60 20 and 265/70 17

edit: oh and 215/40 18 on the GR86 next to it

I have a 2022 4Runner TRD Sport too, I did buy the TRD wheels, my question is can I put 265/65/R17 tires on the TRD Wheels to ensure no rubbing on stock suspension? I know the stock tire size on SR5 is 265/70/R17, but I would like to put 265/65/R17 instead, a slightly smaller tire so no rubbing, will that work??

Yeah smaller than stock tires definitely won't rub; you'll get extra "no rub"...

Caster setting matters too. I get some rub on OEM size tires on TRD Pro rims, but that’s because I increased the caster to reduce wandering on the highway. It was well worth it — I love it. Point is just that alignment settings plus offset (and width?) of the rim matter as well.
