Looking forward to actually seeing any red light at this point lol That switch I think is about $60 to $80. That will be my next thing to change

Abs light will turn on when you turn on the locker. Not a fault.

That's a great sign my man! Thank you so much! Ordered an OEM diff lock indicator switch, should be here by Saturday. Hopefully we can put this issue to bed!

Hopefully that switch is easy to replace. Please let us know how it goes!

Lots of rust, a bit nervous to be honest. But all the plugs in the diff and transfer case were surprisingly easy. Of course I'd been hitting them with penetrating oil for a couple days lol But I'll definitely let ya's know how it goes!

Maybe not an issue but, have you confirmed that the dash light is working and not burnt out?
Also, if you don't know already, make sure you loosen the diff. fill plug before you drain the oil from the diff.

I've also got a '16 TE, and try to engage the 4L and diff lock at least once a month while I drive down my straight residential street.
It does take a bit of steering wheel shimmy to hear the diff. click and see the dash light go solid.
And I do this at no greater than walking speed.

I can't confirm the light works, I wished I could. It doesn't light up during the initial start up, however McSpazatron said his didn't either. Yeah I'll be engaging everything often. This thing was a cooperate vehicle, so I'm sure the diff lock was never even used.

I don't remember ever seeing the locker light on the dash light up during initialization after turning on the key, just when accessing the locker in 4Lo.

Update: switch replaced, still no lights on the dash. Feel like this is turning into a wiring issue. Getting pretty cost to trying in the towel, the abs light tells me the locker is engaged and I can hear it did I mention I had to fight if a damned squirrel from underneath the hood, thinking that lil f****r may be part of my issue.

You could get a new OEM locker made by Aisin, it’s the SAT 020, $369CDN. Rockauto.com has it. The Toyota dealer here is asking $2300 CDN! See photo. Grease it up good before installing.
