Really like the Rav4 mirrors, installed them 5 days after getting the 4Runner. Super simple to install, hardest part is getting the heat cables removed.

I have the Suma mirrors, as I saw no need for the sequential turn signal in the mirror. They work well as advertised, and the DS blind spot is pretty much eliminated. The PS mirror is pretty much exactly like the oem mirror, just without the 'objects are closer than they appear' type message in the mirror glass. I wish someone had offered the mirrors separately, as there was no reason to change out the PS one.

The only thing I don't care for, or just haven't gotten used to, is I liked how the DS mirror gave you a better view when backing up. The new mirrors, while helping with a blind spot on the road, are less useful for backing up, as it's harder to judge closer distances behind you.

When I removed my oem mirrors, one of the plastic clips that holds that bent metal piece on the drivers side mirror (circled below) broke. I don't imagine it matters, as I don't see what those metal pieces do. They don't hold in the mirror glass at all, and they are not attached to any wires...IIRC the PS mirror doesn't have those metal pieces, and the Suma mirrors don't either.

Edit: those copper-colored metal doodads might be some sort of spring to add tension to the mirror glass, but I haven't seen any reason for them being there...

I got the CTH mirrors quickly and I’m pretty pleased.

But I agree with you on the driver side distance judging issue with a convex mirror.
Not only backing up but pulling out into a gap in the left lane to pass a car on the freeway. You have use the rear view and the DS mirror to be aware of the distance of the car behind and to your left.
It takes some getting used to.

I agree with you on the changing lanes into a gap in traffic - it's a bit unnerving feeling like you don't really know how far back that car in your mirror is...

I just installed the RAV4 mirrors on my 2021 4Runner.. seem to be a great fit.. I noticed though that the D/S didn’t have those little bronze spring clips in my oem glass mirror. Wasn’t sure if that was a mistake during install at the factory or they aren’t supposed to have them on that side? The P/S blind spot mirror works great.. for some reason the DS one kinda has a glare when driving at night..

My passenger side mirrors didn't have those clips, the opposite of yours. I don't think they serve any real purpose, seeing as how they're not always present.

I’ve also wondered about the bronze clips on the mirrors. One of my mirrors has them and one doesn’t (can’t remember which side). Weird they’d be different from side to side.

Ok, cool so I’m not the only one missing clips lol. I spent a good deal of time scanning the driveway after I swapped mirrors looking for them thinking they’d fell off somehow.

Yep. Mystery clips. I actually installed them on the driver side mirror thinking they had to have some important function. Then going to the passenger side mirror I saw they were missing. Oh well.

That’s also what I thought initially. But there’s no electrical connections, they’re just floating in a plastic tab. Maybe some stabilizing springs? But why just drivers side?

Do the 2022 trucks have a blind spot monitor light in the mirrors? Or can you still use the Rav mirrors?

I have the Rav4 mirrors, and I wish I had found out about them sooner. It was an easy install; I had no problems with the electrical connectors for the heated mirrors. I pack my 4Runner FULL when overlanding and the blind spot mirrors are essential for good situational awareness in busy traffic. This was a very simple install, look it up on YouTube. I used a suction cup dent puller to pull out the mirrors, it worked flawlessly. In AZ the adhesive on the stick-on mirrors won't last forever.

Installed the Rav4 mirrors today. Is the gap normal? I ordered from the link that was posted by another forum member. Not sure it's a direct fit as the gap seems excessive compared to OEM mirrors...?

Thank you for confirming. I was a little put off by the gap as it is definitely more so than the original mirrors. Install was easy peasy! Hopefully this will help improve driving visuals. Will test it out tomorrow.

Also both driver and passenger mirrors came with the bronze clips. Not sure why they are or aren't needed, but they were there.

Thanks for pointing that. Just checked Youtube and looks like the Rav4 glass is much smaller.

I haven't noticed a bigger gap in mine, but if they are slightly smaller than they are even more amazing with the increased visibility they offer.

I know this is a very old thread. But I wanted to see what people have been doing lately. I currently have the Rav4 mirrors, but I think the wide angle mirror is too small. I was originally looking at the Spotter Mirror (https://www.4runnerlifestyle.com/products/spotter-mirror-for-4runner?_pos=1&_sid=f1c1e9421&_ss=r) but now see the CT mirrors (https://cartrimhome.com/With-LED-Turn-Signal-Side-Mirror-Glass-Replacement-For-4RUNNER). I really don't need the turn signal, but its OK if it does have them. Are the OEM 4runner blind side mirrors better than the Rav4?

If you’re asking if the blind spot monitoring system is better than the RAV mirrors, as someone who has had both my personal opinion is no. I had the RAV mirrors on my ‘21 SR5P and removed them when I sold it thinking I might use them on whatever I replaced it with. Wound up buying the ORP with those little lights in the mirror. I fucking hate them and have longed for the blind spot mirrors back many times. I’m hoping I will get used to the lights, like I did the blind spot mirrors, and like them too. But I sure don’t like them as much yet.

Notice the words “personal opinion” above. Do what makes you a better, safer driver.
