@Yotaholic so you're talking about a preload collar lift kit you were interested in right?
Hopefully I can help and give you a little bit of information to compare pricing.
First go to a decent off road shop not a stealership.
Second, I never recommend spacer lifts and any of your 4 corners, especially the front.
Try to do a suspension lift, upgrade the springs and or shocks, and upgrade UCA's if going up 3".
My pricing is Canadian, in 2021, but for $3K USD and even a little bit of YouTube and sweat-equity you could prolly avoid spacers all together.

 

Dobinson. Options for different budgets, and everyone seems to love them. Also, we have an expert/dealer who frequents this site.

Or, Eibach. This seems to be the best entry/mid grade option. Similar in cost to a Bilstein 6112 setup, but people seem more satisfied with the Eibachs.

 

Agree with dobinsons - but I'm biased because that's what I have. I also spent tons of time researching the forums. That was my final answer

I don’t know much but a few things about Ironman. I’ve got the Foam Cell Pros on my Tacoma and have been happy with them. I chose them over Billies, fox and saving for kings. One major point was they are “maintenance free,” unlike Fox and King that need to be rebuilt ever so often. The Ironmans also dont have nitrogen in them so even if they did need to be rebuilt, it’s a DIY type of thing.


My only dislike with IM is their marketing practices, they are always on sale and it can give the appearance of being cheap. I don’t think my kit is cheap. Stiff yes, cheap no.

 

Called multiple shops, everybody says 8 hours. At the minimum they charge is $175/hour.

 

8 hours for spacers or full suspension change?

Swapping my front struts (pre-assembled), UCA's, rear shocks and coils, and mounting 5 new tires (bought a matching spare) only took my shop a day - which I assume was 8 hours

 

Well, the stealership said 8 hours for that spacer, off-road shops say 8 hours for the full kit

 

Full kit should take no more than 4 hours if they know what they are doing.

 

They know exactly what they're doing, they are making more money.

Are you in it just for looks? Go cheap level kit and get a 4x4 shop to do it.

Any other use, involving off road, the Dobinsons etc. good budget options. You’ll be touching all four corners.

As noted, don’t go to a dealership. Learn to wrench on it yourself, the money you save can offset buying the tools you’ll need.

^^^^^ This. If you just want it to look cool, at the walmart parking lot, in your driveway for pics,... then spacers/low budget are totally fine. Do that. Itll drive to mcdonalds just fine.

If your gonna beat on the thing, then get shit that actually does something. This nova/mike guy gets it.

 

Eibach would probably be the most cost effective other than Bilstein's. Are you a DIY person? That would save a lot of labor.

 

Hey, yotaholic, my recommendation would be to give @Crikeymike a call.

He set us up with Dobinson’s springs, shock’s,Treaty Oak KDSS spacers, and Dobinson’s Upper control arms for about a 2.5-2.75” lift. Fits our 33’s (285/70’s) perfectly w/ no rubbing offroad.

We’ve beat the living sh!t out of our setup running a heavy load-out for the last 15k miles. Amazing articulation offroad in the slow stuff, very good damping doing some Anza-Borrego desert corrugations at about 30-40mph, comfy on the highway doing 80mph.

I think so, yup. Here’s exactly what i ordered from @Crikeymike in 2021, for a heavy overland build with armor/bumpers/winch/cooler, etc.

 

One more thing to consider. I’m guessing, but I’m not sure you have worked out just what you want from your truck. I sense that questions like ‘tell me what I should buy’ indicate you’re new at this. There is no shame in that, we all here to learn!

If you want to save time and money, figure out what you want to do with it. And once you do, you should invest the time to learn how IFS works.

There are many sad stories of people who have been unhappy with costly modifications. Luckily there are many good sources of information. I most benefited from Accutune, Filthy Motor Sports and Kai of Tinkerers Adventures

I recommend you get your vision and education. Run your questions past the forum, you’ll have an awesome rig!
