I wanted a surface with a vice so I made that bench. Top off Amazon and sealed it. Welded frame. Husky box is bolted from underneath.

One of the best thing is the VIM driver ratchet set.

My wife and I are both tool users, and we share the two car garage. Below is the half of the garage that is my workshop/cigar lounge.
    D6F7BF8A-E86E-4860-8435-D2E270013F4B.jpg

The shelving on this side of the shop is made from 1x2 box steel tubing welded up by yours truly. Same story with the rolling drill press stand. Foreground: folding work table, ramps, creeper, folding camp chair.
    256AF817-77B6-49AE-A463-A3FF11F45FF4.jpg

On this side just some store-bought shelving. Nothing special. Up top: Port-a-band, miter saw, 2nd compressor, oscillating drum sander, etc.
    610A1A1A-5590-41F6-B4BD-40871F2C0384.jpg

A view of the bench from inside. 14 ft. Formica counter top with neoprene where it counts. The tool bag rotates on a lazy Susan bearing. The task light has a magnifier inside. Lurking in the shadows underneath: a full size Delta table saw. MIG welder in home made cart. Festool wet/dry vac, coupla dollys, 2-step ladder.
    16C4585C-F080-48F4-910A-DC0768931FEF.jpg

Some detail shots: a section of the shelving accommodates small parts bins. The compressor is in the ceiling where it is pleasantly muffled. The tank drain feeds outside via copper tubing to a ball valve on the outside wall. The air is fed down to the separator/regulator and back up to the combo reel. That reel is a guilty luxury but after shelling out the big bucks I have never regretted it. It is sooo convenient.

Using the leftover space behind the small parts bins: compressor switch, paper towel dispenser, pneumatic fittings. I made up those adapters with the short hoses. They all fit into the same valve/ gauge assembly, also pictured.455A1A8D-61E5-44E2-B031-827F73CD28CE.jpg

    The obligatory tool box shot.

At this point, All i need is a hammock and some air conditioning and I would be golden. Have been attempting to lay out a new workbench incorporating the welder, But am wondering if I even need it at this point,

On the other wall I've got my hand torch for plasma, and extra MIG guns.

TIG on a tiny cart along with a bottle since the welder is a multiprocess setup.

An Evo saw somewhere in there, press brake. Tools all hidden in the corner in Milwaukee Packouts. Oxyfuel stuff in those totes up there and a bunch of misc. items.

Worst part? I've got a storage in another town that has a ton more tools :bananadead:

effin storage units in other counties is the bane of our existence.

Was able to close out two within the last 12 months, Gotta respect the small victories at my age!

For me as the welder or my garage

Two welding jackets hanging on the corner of the shelf

Three welding hoods dispersed throughout my stuff

Welding sleeves for when I just need to do a quick job

Fireproof blanket to smother something that catches fire

Fire extinguisher on other side of the wall because having it on the side where my welding stuff is would defeat the purpose, that's where a fire would be

And last but not least, I have a fire sprinkler system throughout the entire house as well as the garage that run independent of each other in the event of a fire ;)

Coooool! Finally getting to a point where I have the tools I need for the jobs I *want* to do. I’m thankful that I have a garage for two cars, but the leftover space isn’t quite big enough for a permanently set up shop. So any project I do requires quite a bit of rearranging to convert at least half the garage into “workshop” mode. At least for now, until I start to get rid of stuff. Organization is my nemesis, so your pics really help my imagination lol.

Oh I figured; just happy to have a garage (hence the storage unit).

My other house doesn't have a garage, nor does it support the electrical needed for the tools I have so I rent it out.

We just got this house (new) a year and a half ago.

Glad they help. My shop is set up to maximize capability per square foot. It was prompted by a severe lack of organization, after I got to the point that I was buying things I knew I already had but wouldn’t be able to find in a reasonable amount of time. Now anything can be found in the time it takes to sift through one of those gray boxes. When negotiating with my wife over the (space and whether we would keep a car in the garage) I toyed with the idea of having shelving all the way up the wall and having the bench on casters. When the shop was needed I would have backed the car out and rolled the bench into the middle of the space.
