You can literally see the indentation of the pipe where it hit the door!

 

I was slightly worried that my truck would be totaled, which ended up not being the case as my truck is worth like $12K as of this post; Unfortunately, I've been having a hell of a time getting into contact with the scrapyard's insurance company, and I finally decided to involve my insurance company. I have a $1,000 deductible, and I initially though that the estimate you see below was minus that deductible (Turns out that this was before the deductible was, well, deducted); I want my truck fixed in this lifetime, so USAA is gonna pay to fix it, then go after the other insurance company and get my deductible refunded. The scrapyard's insurance company (Liberty Mutual) finally contacted me a week after the accident, and they are covering everything, including a rental car! Their estimate came in at like $180 less than USAA's estimate because they were expecting $2 less per hour for labor...

 

In case I have to give someone a ride...

 

The damn thing is already starting to rust!

 

That sucks but at least you are getting it fixed. Make sure it is done right.

The new door is coming off of a totaled MGM truck; Body shop is Butch's Body Works in Danboro, Pennsylvania. This place also fixed my truck back in 2015 when it got hit by a drunk driver!

 

How much longer until they have it fixed for you?

 

Replacement door and insurance check should be arriving next week!

 

What are they doing to fix the rear fender?

 

Forgive me for being a pragmatist, but what were you scrapping and how much did you make?

 

That can be saved; Body shop is going to repair dent and repaint...

 

On this day, I just happened to be in the area and was getting rid of some shit I didn't want; Netted me $10. Most I've ever gotten in a single run is $426; Never scrapping as a side hustle again, and when I'm making runs for work, I use the company Ram pickup.

 

I'm glad you weren't driving under that piece of pipe when it fell...

 

Or that it went through the window; Under would have smashed the roof and totaled the truck, while through the window could have totaled me!

 

I have run thousands over the scales over the years, and never had so much as a flat tire. Couldn't understand when my neighbor told me that he never drives his truck to the scrap yard. Now I do! Definately lucky you weren't walking there when that pipe fell. Never trust the guy in the machine. Glad you're ok and it's being handled.

 

Just got off the phone with Butch; I was informed that the donor door that arrived had rust along the bottom, and that he told them he didn't want it because of this. A replacement, and hopefully rust-free, door is on the way and expected to arrive tomorrow or Wednesday.

Went to New Hope to see my friend's band play at John Peter's on Saturday; Hit 19K in the rental RAV4 while driving to the Uno in Warrington for dinner with more friends!

 

One feature I really don't like about the RAV4 is the auto start/stop feature; There is a button to turn off this feature so the engine is always running, but sometimes I forget and the engine will go through several start/stop cycles while I'm stuck in traffic. I don't know why automakers thought this feature was a good idea, because not only is it likely hell on the engine and starter, but it is unnerving when the engine goes through these on/off cycles and it reverberates through the vehicle...

 

The RAV actually did a good job taking on the first recycling run of the week!

 

Though there was one issue...
