    I have no idea...

I just never realized that shaggin' wagon conversion companies ever got their hands on Toyotas, or any Japanese vehicles for that matter!

Also, I kinda like the exterior; I would add wheels like the one below (with a 6-lug bolt pattern, obviously) with Cooper Discoverer AT/3s...

    A5C566D4-B124-4326-9BEF-C41F151C5003.jpg

It’s the interior that I really don’t like; It looks more like a 1985 Starcraft conversion van than a 1985 Toyota 4Runner...

All that’s missing is enough wood paneling to make a sailboat blush, and a tiny TV bolted to the ceiling (as stated above, I DO NOT really like the interior of this thing); Plus, I think the conversion company rendered the rear roof unremovable due to the interior modifications :(

That's too funny. Perhaps the owners painted it to match their Wanderlodge and used it as their TOAD?

Is TOAD a term for a vehicle towed behind a motorhome?

Also, I highly doubt that's cusrom-matched paint; The conversion was done by a company that primarily did vans, and the paint mimics what you'd see on one of those...

    @Fourtoad

Do you have to have a CDL to drive the Wanderlodge?

TOAD refers to a towed behind vehicle. And no, we do not need a CDL to drive our bus or any sized RV simply because they are considered private coaches...NOT Commercial Vehicles. Yes, I do think drivers of such massive vehicles SHOULD have to have some special training to drive them, but sadly, we do not. In fact it has been said if we did have a CDL and were involved in any kind of crash, wether it was our fault or not, they would automatically fault the CDL driver. That's some bullshit, so we have steered away form getting a CDL, but I wouldn't mind having the training.

Now maybe you understand the s/n- "Fourtoad" aka 4Runner towed vehicle.

Are you gonna put a V8 in the Berlinetta? Those generally have underpowered sixes from the factory...?

The 79 already has a V8 in it. It's also got an automatic transmission...that we want to change to a manual. That car is in rough shape and at the back of the project list.

That 4Runner is what I would call tragically ugly, but still cool.

Figured I would post this since the Granville Inc. conversion vehicles seem to be quite rare. As the only information I could pull up was lads talking about the the early 4Runners and Toyota campers..... nothing Ford. Maybe this will spark some interest on the topic and someone can shed some light on more of these classics!

I know, I know.... this is a Toyota forum but the Granville Inc. conversions again seem to be as rare as a unicorn zebra..... someone will appreciate this I’m sure.

True. Times change but when companies don’t they go under.

    NOTE:
I did my research and realize that the "Graffiti Highway" has been covered with dirt to dissuade people from adding anything new to it... :(

I asked this question in the "Pennsylvania" thread, but I am worried that it might get passed over and buried; Has anybody been to the abandoned mining town of Centralia, Pennsylvania recently? It is definitely seems to still be open for exploration by the public, but what I would like to know is if it's passable for anything that isn't a 4x4...? If the road is impassable after a certain point, I would not mind parking the truck and walking. If this is the case, I would prefer to do it in the spring sometime so I don't have to worry about extreme cold or extreme heat.

Based on my research, it would definitely appear that it is still open for exploration by the public as long as the property lines of the few people who still live there are respected. Years ago, I read about explorers being confronted by a woman in a pickup claiming to be some kind of cop, but unlike Frick's Lock which can result in arrest for trespassing, Centralia still seems to be more or less open to the public as long as you don't do anything malicious. Anybody on here been to Centralia recently?

This is the infamous graffiti road that was covered over with dirt; I have no idea how old this satellite image is, but it is obviously pre-COVID because it is clearly not covered...

I encountered a snow squall just outside of Pottsville, but it had calmed down by the time I got into Pottsville; Again, the first round of pictures is from the February 2022 trip...
