Yes you do! While mountain biking out there last month there were numerous times I said to myself that "I would hate to wreck on this shit!" Great trails! I drove by the Craters of the Moon National Park on the way to Montana and I was wondering how long a pair of boots would last traversing that? Here in suburban Maryland nothing harsh on the tires!

It was another fantastic trip! Tame trail in St Joseph, MO; really good trails in Curt Gowdy State Park near Cheyenne, WY; Park City, UT - Mid Mountain Trail (over rated); Midway, UT Wastach Over Wastach Trail (fantastic); cool trail network south of Twin Falls, ID; a trail right in Twin Falls (river gorge with waterfalls overlooking the Snake River - tame trail, great scenery); one ride in Boise; five rides in Bend, OR; another ride in Boise; four rides in Sun Valley area, four rides in Bozeman area and last ride in Bismarck, ND. I rode 21 of 24 days. I cannot wait to do it again next fall, but I will be returning to the SW CO, Grand Junction, Moab area and add St George and Hurricane, UT. Warmer, drier weather and more of the technical riding with less big climbs!

One buddy drove from SC and met me in St Joseph, MO. Another buddy drove from CA and met us in Boise. Another buddy flew into Boise from MD. A good way for us old guys to still get after it.

I wrote a description with some pictures in the 4Runners and MTBs thread! You frequent that thread. It's really fun to go car camping / mountain biking in the 4R. Easy to set up for sleeping, plenty of room for one person and gear / necessities. Sleep at rest stops, camp grounds, parking lots. Up and moving in less than 10 minutes. This is the primary reason I bought the 4R.

I will check out the General Grabber ATX - thanks!

Might be in the minority but I’d be pretty happy with 50K good miles out of a set of tires….then again, I don’t put many miles on my cars each year so that 50K would take me a while to hit, at which point age would be just as good a reason to change them.

If you think that’s bad, the Goodyear Wrangler kevlar somethings (same tire that came on stock 3rd gen TRD off-road Tacomas) I have on my 3rd gen 4Runner are wearing pretty bad…..at only like 15K miles. Don’t care, as they were takeoffs off a brand new Tacoma and got them dirt cheap, but still surprised.

I am completely content to hit 52,000 miles in 30 months with these tires. Looking forward to having new tires this week!

That sounds amazing! I would love to do that sometime. The last trip I went on was 2018, we flew out to Moab for 10 days. I'd love to do it driving, so I could do a little bit of off-roading with the 4Runner as well. And I agree 100%, the 4Runner is a great platform for the solo camping and biking. That's a big reason why I bought mine as well. Haven't been to the MTB thread in a while, I'll have to go check it out to check out your pics.

And I'm really happy with the generals. They've been great off-road, they're excellent in the snow conditions, have zero complaints with them in the wet, they're relatively smooth and quiet, and I'm very happy with the mileage I've gotten from them. I've only rotated them once or twice in the time that I've had them, I'm horrible about that, and despite that they've been wearing very evenly.

I would buy them again if they came in the size that I wanted, but I want to switch sizes and I'm thinking of going with the Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT next.

My nitto tires only lasted 35k miles with tires rotated every 5k, I replaced them with the Toyo Open Country R/T Trail 285/70-r17 C load 56lbs each

At this point I plan to wait til the next new set tires are needed at around 100,000 miles and 5 - 6 years of vehicle age (approx 3 yrs from now) to upgrade to a modest lift and 285's.

Hopefully by then I will be retired, have downsized the house and done with kids expenses!

    Same boat.

Current at 40K with K02s and they're loud and shakey. Have rotated like clockwork at every 5K service and had them rebalanced recently.

Gonna rotate one last time next week (the set current on the rear don't vibrate on the front) and try to squeeze another 10K out of them. At 7mm tread remaining. Will go earlier if necessary.

They don't own me anything. Have safely and securely carried me and my family and all our gear all around the western states in the last 2.5 years . . . offroad and on.

Yeah I know I’m bringing a one year post back from the dead . Just wondering if you still feel that way about your Ridge Grapplers ?

6 years now on RG’s and yes, I am still happy with them. Keep in mind, most of my on road and off road driving is in dry conditions. If I lived in a climate that had a lot of rain and snow, there may be better choices.
