Noted, I'll let you guys know! The new rack arrives Tuesday. Does anyone know if it's really that bad to take off?

Yeah I’m not really a big fan on the roof rack. I prefer the one on my 17 Pro. I’m pretty sure I read up on the other Toyota forum you use the same mounting holes if you want to put the old style rails on like I have now on my Pro for the new Pro. But it’s not stopping me from moving up. Put my name on 2020 army green Pro. I will leave the new rack on for now if I buy the 2020. If I don’t like it I will sell it and buy the other rails to add. That is my plan. Does not seem to be a problem to sell the newer pro rack.

I would leave it but we have a lot of old parking garages in Boston, and I'm worried about clearance. Not fj didn't fit with the rack

no not at all from the threads I’ve read !

There are Allen bolts to remove caps/ covers then remove mounting bolts into roof one at a time and be careful not to move the “ nuts” that are in the roof and reinstall bolts back into nuts so you don’t loose them in roof

Also don’t leave runner in rain without reinstalling new rack over open holes !!

    good luck

Those do nothing for me. And I figure if I end up not liking it I can get most of my money back

Hi Rebecca, I just bought the same 4Runner Pro in Superwhite - my first 4Runner. I had a couple of questions for you: Are you tinting your already tinted glass darker, or would this be the "first" tint; also, what is the blackout kit? It looks like your Pro is already "blacked out" - and looks great btw. I debated the Voodoo Blue/White for quite awhile....

Just tinting the front windows to match the rears a little more closely

The blackout kit is an overlay for the rear emblems. Just got a bunch of stuff in, can't wait to put it all together. Running boards arriving Saturday, I hate to admit but I deff need them. Having trouble getting in and out gracefully in my work clothes haha

When you loosen the bolts, loosen one a half of turn and then loosen the other a half of turn. Go back and forth like this or you risk the chance of snapping the tiny weld that holds the inner nuts in place. If you do this you will have no issues.

alright so my meeting in philly has officially been moved to dallas, so won't be driving down that way any time soon. i do have CT as part of my territory, and would be willing to go to the ny border to meet someone with the rack. it's coming off the car probably this weekend

Which rack did you decide to go with? I’m going to leave mine on my 2020 for a little while to see if I like it. If not I will be doing something else.

quick update on the state of the car. someone gouged the fender flare through the paint and into the plastic, going to try touch up before taking to my buddy's body shop

put the running boards on this sunday, then went to go take a walking tour. while it was parked for 2 hours on the street someone put their cigarette out on the running board, and i have a little melted dimple. not the worst thing in the world but the principle of it burns me up

Super easy. The trickiest part was just taking the old rack off without hitting anything because I'm short haha. My fiance helped, but I wad limited to how much I could move standing on the ladder

Another question I think I read up on the forum when you losen the bolts you do a little at a time backing them out correct. I read if you are not careful the things you bolt into can drop down in the liner. Is that correct. Did you add any silicone in the holes? Thanks.
