In Sri Lanka (Asia) we have 79 the pickup version, 78 the long 3 door wagon (troopy) version and 76 the 5 door suv / wagon version. If Toyota USA can redesign a 78 to a 5 door version with safety standards required it would be insane. To me mainly because the 78 has a whopping 180L (about 47.5 gal) diesel capacity and I know the toughness compared to a LC200. Why the reason I don't care for LC200 especially gas US spec, possibly same for LC300, no personal experience on LC300.

Edit - Anything changed for Asian market? I'm not updated as I haven't visited in more than 10years. International traveling not to my taste with kids.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I should have said 70-series, it's a whole line.

IMO the thought of a 100,200, or 309 as a "true LC" is ludicrous. Those are just luxo barges capitalizing on the name.

Will the real slim shady please stand up :)
And please, just the "real" slim shady. No slim shady prado, slim shady 250, or slim shady GX 550 need apply :p
I don't know why we are discussing what is "true" and what is not "true" LC. Folks saying 300 is "true" when no one in United States has ever owned it, and possibly driven it. Its quite funny.

Yeah, you're right. No off-road capability whatsoever.

The fact that anyone here thinks they can decide what is and isn't a Landcruiser is pretty funny.

Toyota decides. We can like it, or not like it.

The width table is wrong. The LC width is with mirrors and the 4Runner width is without. I read elsewhwere the actual LC body width is 78", so still wider than our 4Runner.

    So?

I never said they didn't have any capability. I know two people who frequently wheel them. The issues they run into are due to the size and weight. One of them is on his second aftermarket steel bumper, because it gets so beat up off road the first got mangled beyond repair.

So, you know guys who wheel them, but it's not a "true" Landcruiser because you said so?

Just want to make sure I'm clear.

Will my KDSS 4R be as good as that? I can live with that. That's damn good.

Side note: this thread has devolved into one of the most ridiculous conversations I've ever heard.

Up next, on 20/20: what is a true Landcruiser?

Imagine if you lift it 3 inches. I knew LC was good but damn that's really good.

Pro is too expensive. I can buy so much with that extra 5k, including the Pro grill lol. This KDSS thing looks impressive on that LC.

I just mean it from a familiarity perspective. The land cruiser that people in the US are familiar with was updated to the 300, which isn't sold here anymore.

To reintroduce a new vehicle, with the same name, but based off a different vehicle, almost feels like false advertising. That's why I call the 300 a "truer" LC than what was just released.

I guess I should have used better terminology because it seems a comment on "true" LC stirred up a hornets nest

It's the best flex you're going to get without doing a sway bar disconnect or delete. But, I think the Land Cruiser has a little bit more articulation than the 4Runner.

I wasn't pulling a tire in this picture at all, so I think I had a little bit more to go.

What is the compelling argument for the L/C over the GX? Same basic vehicle, within $5-8K of each other, and the GX gets the V6 without hybrid.
