New here with a GX 460

C4 rear diff skid plate installed. This thing is beefy!

 

First snow trip of the season.

 

Went on a day trip to keechelus lake and decided to get stuck haha

 

And got unstuck by what method?

 

A group of us walk every morning - 2 miles down and back on my private road. Friends of ours brought family with them from California last week. One of which was driving a lifted Armored 2018 Lexus GX460. I had to show him my 4Runner plus chat with him about his mods on our walk.

He had Metal Tech front and rear bumpers on his rig. Looked pretty good. Hides that ugly grill:

Lots of shoveling and winched out by a Jeep haha good times.

Sand was soft. I sunk right in.

 

Around $5k for front and rear bumper!! They’re nice but I’ll wait until I hit something before I fork up that much cash haha.

The rear bumper is pretty dope..

This guy has some $. IIRC he created Adobie or some software program that he still gets royalties for.

in reference to when you got stuck does that rig (and GX in general) have the same electronic goodies multi terrain select and crawl control?

 

Mine is the base model so no crawl control for me. I didn’t want rear air bags so had to go with the base. I can add it for a few hundred bucks. That will be down the road when I get stuck again

 

ahh gotcha. I don’t know much about the GX except they have a v8.

 

Well even with the base I got leather heated/cooled seats, sun roof, navigation, center locking diff, tow package, etc. Thing is a beast.

 

I just wish they didn’t have the swing out door. I can see that being in my way a lot.

 

I thought it would but we actually prefer it. Works great for us.

 

Really digging the posts and info on upgrades - I just replaced my 5th gen 4runner with a 2016 GX460. Tires and suspension are first on my list of exterior mods, and I've been leaning towards the TRD Pro wheels. What tires are you running?

 

I'll agree there. I don't have a GX (yet) but test driving a few, I preferred the swing out door. I like not having to duck under the hatch.

 

275/70r17 General Grabber ATX. I wanted to go with 285/70 or 255/80 but the generals were new on offerup for $500. They have been excellent in PNW rain/snow.

Just picked up some SCS F5 wheels for the GX. My trd wheels are going on my wife’s new 4runner that we picked up yesterday.

 

skill level expert. Get the wife a new 4runner just so you can justify new rims

 

That’s exactly why I tried so hard to convince her to trade in her Durango for the 4runner haha.
